NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro - The office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here has strengthened its partnership with the provincial government by supporting its yet another innovative strategy.With the COVID-19 pandemic which could still be hindering some people from moving around, , the provincial government of Davao de Oro initiated the 1DdO Helpline system to provide its citizens with the quickest and most efficient way to access government services.
DTI-Davao de Oro, which has been a staunch partner of the local government unit in implementing various initiatives, showed its support by designating two of its staff as 1DdO Helpline agents. Each of them has been provided with a mobile phone to respond to consumer welfare concerns and business development inquiries.
DTI-Davao de Oro provincial director Lucky Siegfred M. Balleque Lauded the LGU’s effort, especially that it has also helped his office reach more clients.
“The initiative has enabled DTI-Davao de Oro to be more accessible to clients, as well as, connected to other concerned offices in the province even if there is a pandemic,” he said.
The 1DdO Helpline is an information technology system that keeps LGUs and national government agencies (NGAs) within arm’s reach by the public through the use of hotlines. Davao de Oro’s Executive Order No. 0062.2020 which officially created the 1DdO Helpline system was signed last September 8, 2020 by Provincial Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy.
The 1DdO Helpline has been providing the public with a contactless access to government services. This has alsoallowed them to seek help from their local Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) more easily.
“The system has offered a convenient way of accessing government services with the use of technology. It does not only simplify government processes. It likewise eliminates the hassle of getting stuck in long queues when doing face-to-face transactions, and even red tape,” noted Balleque, a lawyer, who emphasized, too, on the importance of protecting one’s privacy and the confidentiality of each transaction, which the system ensures. He added that the 1DdO Helpline operates in line with provisions of the Data Privacy Act (Republic Act 10137).
By being true to its objective of serving the public, the 1DdO Helpline was recognized last December during the 2020 National Digital Governance Awards. It won first place under the Government to Government Category. DTIDDO
