Ano nga ba itong website na to?

Hack the Climate: Longest Hackathon in the Philippines

You may have heard of Hackathons in the past which all of it has the purpose of doing good to the community. The organizers leveled it up a bit more, making it longer and better, with the theme of hacking the climate. And to give you an idea on the prizes at stake, you can check them below:

Prizes:
US$ 800 in cash
1 - Macbook Pro
1 - Dell Inspiron Mini 10" netbook
1 - iPod Shuffle
1 - iPod Video
1 - iPod Touch

All of those sounds cool and motivating but that is not the purpose of why I'm promoting this event. Let me start with what inspired this. Watch!

Naderev Saño, the lead negotiator of the Philippines delegation who prepared a statement at the COP18 climate talks in Doha, which was played a few years back. This became a major influence to Jacob Scheer. He felt that there is more that he can do and us in this instance. Climate change doesn't only apply to several states or countries, but this is a global phenomenon.

The actual house of one of the organizers after Typhoon Sendong

Come to think of it. We are all brothers and sisters all in one sky and this is our planet, this is our home and our planet needs us. Each of us can do our share and for this event, this is going to be for the individuals or group capable in developing an app to help out. I know someone is just out there, I know that you may be that person reading this or you know someone that has that skill. So come and join this advocacy. Lets help out.

Lamudi Expands Operations in Asia

Displaying Logo-Lamudi-v2-blue (1).PNG

MAY 27, 2014: Leading real estate player Lamudi (www.lamudi.com) is expanding its presence in Asia, with the platform launching in Sri Lanka this week.

Lamudi is now available in seven new markets across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, with launches also announced today for Jordan, the Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius and Zimbabwe. This brings the number of countries where the platform is available to 28.

Lamudi is a global property portal operating exclusively in emerging markets. The company benefits from the resources and local know-how of teams in each of its countries, with support from global headquarters in Berlin.

Co-Founder and Managing Director, Paul Philipp Hermann, said: “Countries like Sri Lanka have the perfect trifecta for online property: each has a strong real estate market, growing rate of internet usage, and a young and vibrant demographic.

We are expanding our presence in Asia because, quite simply, we could see a demand that was not being met. As more people in each of these markets switch online, they want to have access to the same resources that are available elsewhere.

Whether its buying a house in Sri Lanka or renting an apartment in Jordan, Lamudi is helping to meet the growing demand for e-commerce in emerging markets.”

Wilhelm Hammes, Managing Director of Lamudi Sri Lanka (www.lamudi.lk) said: “Now is the perfect time to be entering the Sri Lankan market. The property sector has seen significant growth since 2009, as infrastructure has improved and investors have come back. We want to be there to grow alongside this thriving industry.”

Lamudi is already on track to being the number one real estate marketplace in the region. Launched just six months ago, the company now offers 340,000 property listings worldwide across its platforms.

Founded in 2013, Lamudi is now operating in Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Colombia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kenya, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Archer for a Day in Kodanda Makati Cinema Square

Being a Sagittarius I think it will be just natural for me to try this. Hey that's Half Horse Half Archer. Aside from that I also got inspired by several influences starting from Robinhood, to the Elves in Lord of the Rings and I think the last one was HawkEye. And aside from that, I also realized that from RPG's I usually play support like the one that has the bow and arrow thing. I just think that it is just so ME to do such, which is why I got excited when I got an opportunity to try Archery in Kodanda.

Started out with putting up the gear that we will use including the bag where the arrows will be filled. First few minutes for me was like being a kid again and being though of how to hold up the bow and how to do it properly, we were also told to always pay attention to the referee whistle because it will give us a signal on when to load up the arrow to our bow and when to get the arrow from the target paper which is a safety precaution that the staff of Kodanda strongly implement because what we got were real bow's and real arrows and can really hurt someone if there were no safety measures specially for a novice like me.

First few shots that I got were really frustrating I was not hitting my target and the arrows where just going the wrong direction, but eventually I slowly get a hang of it and my hits were getting closer to my target which is the bulls-eye of course. To add up the flavor, fortunately I have another blogger friend that was with me so we had a little friendly competition, nothing at steak just the negative feeling of being beaten. The competition got more interesting when my friend hit the bulls-eye first and I ran out of arrows aside from the fact that my hits where mostly outside the circle or not even hitting the paper.

After that First time bulls-eye of Sportyguy(my blogger friend) he became more competitive, because I'm hitting my targets in the succeeding rounds, and surprisingly even hit the center of the bulls-eye which definitely made me very happy because that was my first time to be an archer and it gave me a good sign. I can say that I'm pretty lucky at that time. And to sum up the score that me and Sportyguy got...well it was 6-1!

We went to the Kodanda Store where all bows, arrow, bags, shirts and other accessories sold. Also got a glance of their stock room where the bows of the students where kept safe, because it will be too tedious for the archery students to carry their bulky bows all the time specially if their session was set everyday.

My Kodanda Experience was awesome, not bad for a first timer and would like to try some more. I can recommend this as a 'Must Try!'. Doing away from the usual going to the movies, eating out etc.

KODANDA
[ko*dan*da] Sanskrit - He who has a bow.

Apply NBI Clearance Online

NBI Clearance has become an important part of our lives. Few years ago, we had only one way to obtain a copy of the Clearance but everything changes for the better. Our Government, through the National Bureau of Investigation opened the opportunity to its applicants to for an online application which makes the entire process more efficient.

The big problem with the manual processing of NBI Clearance is that it is too slow (a perfect venue for Red Tape). Majority of the applicants are ranting about the long queue lines and it’s driving them crazy!

NBI Clearance can be easily done online and skip a few steps of the manual old way. It also eliminates the manual filling out of application forms since it can be done online. No more long queue lines. No more wasted time waiting for your turn. NBI clearance online application eliminates 3 steps of the process namely: Data Verification, Payment to the Cashier and Filling out the Application Form!

The only disadvantage or draw back from the new system is it delays you for a day because of the Scheduling Task as to when to visit your selected NBI Clearance Outlet where you process your online application.

Carlo Rossi Sweet Red - Make Owning your Dream Even Sweeter

That heavenly feeling when you finally hold, for the first time, something that you have been dreaming about for a long time, like a shiny, new car in your favorite color, red. It truly sweet-- and it’s yours!  Finally  owning  something  that  you’ve  worked  hard  for,  long  dreamed  of,  is  indeed  a  reason  to celebrate. Whether all by your lonesome or with friends, family, a boyfriend or a girlfriend – it doesn’t really matter. What  is  important  is  to mark  the  day  with  something  sweet,  and  dreamy:  and make  it sweeter with  a bottle of Carlo Rossi Sweet Red.

Rossi Sweet Red is just the perfect companion for such a marvelous occasion. As its name suggests, Rossi Sweet Red is sweet with layers of vanilla, bright cherry and wild raspberry flavors. Unlike your dream car though, Rossi Sweet Red is affordable and won’t break your wallet, or test the limit of your credit card. Rossi  Sweet  Red  also  has  a  well-balanced  palate  and  a  light  medium  body,  and  tastes  just  as  great, whether chilled or with ice. It’s not also choosy when it comes to a companion because it goes well with about just anything – cheese, fish, meat, or even the all-time Filipino favorite, the sizzling sisig. Crafted from grapes cultured in California where the sun nurtured the tiny fruits to perfection to assure you  of  wines  bursting  with  flavor  and  aroma,  Rossi  Sweet  Red  has  just  the  right  amount  of  alcohol content and therefore won’t leave you heavily drunk even after finishing a bottle with friends.

Because it comes  from  the Number One Table Wine in  the world, Carlo Rossi, you are assured of  the high quality that goes with every bottle. Also, because it’s red and sourced from grapes, it is good for the heart when drank moderately.

So  what  else  is  lovely  about  drinking  Rossi  Sweet  Red?  Especially  when  you  are  drinking  it  to  toast another milestone in your life – that of finally owning something that’s a fruit of your labor!
