Kamuning Bakery Has Rich 'Tinapay' History since 1930's

Not really new thing, by this time there are already a lot of write-ups and things you can know about this historic bakery. I was able to watch this bakery being featured in television in which I can't remember anymore but Im pretty sure it was more than once..definitely more than once. Finally I was fortunate to be able to visit this place and check on what I can see and of course can taste.

Looks like a normal neighborhood bakery but interestingly people keeps on coming all over from different places. Well, don't be fooled. For after knowing what this bakery was and still is will make you proud to set foot to it - there are so many like these kinds of bakery anymore. Old School kind of thing, somehow when I tried their Pandesal my childhood flashed back in my head, scenes of what our breakfast table had everyday and I was lucky to have similar bakery near our house on the other part of Quezon City.

Old school style - I admire the new owner a newspaper lifestyle/business columnist Wilson Lee Flores for retaining the original flavor and process of bread making and this bakery was able to have loyal clientele over decades of operation 43 Judge Jimenez St., Brgy. Kamuning and you will appreciate it even more because the prices of the breads that they are making matches the prices of the other bakeries even if the production time for Kamuning Bakery's bread is longer and requires more effort.

Ambiance for me is pretty okay, you can have your friends chill out just like a local coffee shop but the coffee will be just like what probably also have at home but the sweetener will be a condense milk. And when you tour around you can see some of the pictures of the famous people that have been there, and I'm not only talking about celebrities but people in history as well. President Manuel L. Quezon use to buy bread here all the time, same as the late President Cory Aquino.

You may recognize some of the pictures that I took from the wall inside the air-conditioned room that they have, although those are not all the famous people who visited and liked the bakery back then(there were no selfies back when other celebs and politicians visited the place a few decades ago), and more familiar names are coming in and you can see it on there facebook wall as well.

Pan de Suelo, a favorite of President Cory. “This kind of bread requires a special skill to bake,” “It is cooked on the oven’s floor and the heat is circulated equally to ensure it is cooked perfectly.” Their bread is baked in a wood-fired oven, which gives the products a distinct flavor.

If you would like to visit you can go to 43 Judge Jimenez Street corner K-1st Street, Kamuning, Quezon City. Tels: 9292216, 7945045, 09175202756, 09228321888, 09178481818

Easy Taxi and Waze Partnership Promotes 'Social' and Responsible Driving

We definitely are familiar with “Don’t drink and drive”, which is a campaign to encourage our registered drivers in the Philippines not to be under the influence of alcohol while driving. this was introduced by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).

This campaign brought the recent partnership of Easy Taxi & Waze to motivate the passengers to take a safe taxi instead of driving under risky conditions, with Easy Taxi who introduced a zero booking fee to accompany and Waze to assure all users are familiar about the "Share Drive" functionality, which allows users to send a direct message or email to inform their friends and family about the arrival and eventual lateness. While all Easy-Taxi drivers are verified and tracked in real time, sharing the ride with family or friends introduces additional layer of safety, which is within the best intention of both partners. In case of any potential delay noticed with Waze's "Share Drive", worried parents or friends, can further request information from Easy Taxi about taxi location and driver details.

“We have a lot in common with Waze, but most importantly we share a mission of reducing the traffic and increasing safety of the transportation industry. The partnership will help us assure an precedented quality of the passenger service to the roads of Manila and Cebu. With the help of SMART Communications we already enabled drivers to use Waze and Easy Taxi with no barriers through zero data plans. It’s now time to bring full synergies to the table”, said Mario Berta, Easy Taxi’s Regional Managing Director.

“Safety is the utmost priority for Waze. Waze was the first navigation app to block drivers from texting and driving. The entire navigation experience, even reporting an accident, can be done by voice command. Additionally, Waze warns you about accidents and hazards on the road, thereby keeping drivers out of the most dangerous segments of road. Similarly, our partnership with Easy Taxi allows us to continue to strive for safety. By working with Easy Taxi, we’re able to offer our users the safest way to get home, while under the influence, and still enjoy the benefits of Waze since their drivers use Waze, too”, said Julie Mossler, Waze Sr. Director of Communications.

7 Habits of Highly Effective Call Center People

The call center industry is largely a tough place to survive in. Most find it hard to adjust with schedules, regulations and general demands of working in an organization where efficiency is vital and team work is essential to reach target goals.

In one interview I attended a few years ago, I was struck by a statement by the interviewing director which really summed up what a call center is. He said the industry is simply a "business of effective communications". It really made sense. We are in the business of talking, encouragement and team work. These are the 3 factors where my 7 Habits of Highly Effective Call Center People revolve around.

These 7 points I'm about to deliver below are not only applicable to a certain group of individuals within a call center organization but it encompasses everyone in order to be a cohesive unit that delivers results.

I. Comes to work everyday - As simple as it is, it is also the hardest thing to adhere to. Working in a call center, all people experience some form of stress and in varying degrees. It may sound funny to some people, but adhering to schedules yields a lot more positives than some people realize. Coming to work and being there for your co-workers and managers lightens the load of everybody concerned. It also gives everybody a chance to interact with one another, help and motivate each other. In the long run, this habit can boost camaraderie and teamwork while realizing that anybody can count on everybody to be there for support.

II. Enhances morale - Working as a team in a call center setting is like attending a support group. Ideally, Managers help everybody down to the agents, supervisors help managers and agents in one way or another, agents help managers, supervisors and each other in a complete circle where accessibility should be a direct line. Simple realization of this ideal situation should already be a morale-boost by itself. Actively enhancing confidence is an attribute not inherent to everybody. They say leadership by example is the way so this means in order to foster a supportive environment, leaders must show the way. Care for your employees translates to better service for your customers in return.

III. Resolves issues completely - Handling a leadership role in a call center setting occasionally involves pacifying noise. Noise is any internal or external factor that acts as a disruptive element affecting agent-customer interactions. As important as you regard each and every customer interaction to be concluded in a satisfactory manner, leaders also need to make sure they eliminate noise or at least keep it to a minimum level as much as possible while committing to resolve any pending issues in a timely manner. Satisfied employees translate to satisfied customers. It’s as simple as that.

IV. Always updated - The call center operations floor is an environment of ceaseless change. Most changes in policy and procedures come from the leaders and cascade to rank and file. Ensuring each and every soul is on the same page and checked for understanding eliminates the possibility of confusion that can possibly escalate to a bigger problem. To be an effective person on the ops floor means each and everybody will have to play an active role in making sure everyone is kept abreast with changes.

V. Sets goals and aspires - a major responsibility of a call center leader is to guide employees towards a clear and defined path towards a more meaningful and personally fulfilling endeavor. People that manage people need to aspire for a better future for their team members. In the same light, employees also set goals for themselves and aspire to be better in their chosen careers. Constant coaching, well-documented progress reports and personal awareness helps ensure everybody is in the right direction. Being aware that you have a goal and somebody is helping you reach it is one way to get the best obtainable performance from everybody.

VI. Participates, Cooperates and Suggests - all three are bunched in one concept because they fall under one key factor which is effective communications. Suggestions, participation and cooperation to resolve an issue are 3 things that are not only seen within team interactions but should also be seen within an agent-customer interaction. Encouraging creativity to solve problems within a working environment also fosters your front liners to be resourceful in their approach to solve customer issues. Many companies have gained more customers and retain existing ones because people who solve their customers' concerns have been innovative in their approach.

VII. Recognizes - getting recognition should always be part of any working environment. Sadly, this is not the reality we see in every office. You may find a group of people feeling left out and unappreciated. Though most would agree that credit should always be directed where it is due, failing to at least acknowledge a few, no matter how small their contribution is, breeds an attitude of indifference towards your goals and worse to customers. People are motivated in different ways. However, failing to recognize contributions can unravel a team working towards a goal. Small and/or occasional pats on the back wouldn't hurt. Celebrating small successes is a call center best practice that plays a major role in getting the best performance from everybody.

You may have noticed that the points I mentioned above all seem like they have one thing in common. In fact, you are correct. They all seem to have one common thing or share a common goal. This is precisely an analogy I want to include in this article. Like these 7 habits of highly effective call center people, everyone within a call center organization shares a common goal, should have the same things in mind and improves each other for better understanding. In a call center office, people interact with customers only as good as they interact with each other.

Deuter now in SM Mall of Asia

Up in the mountains, they hold a compass, a couple of energy bars, a flashlight, and a hydration pack, among many others. On the beach, they carry a change of clothes, a sarong, and some sunscreen. In school, they’re filled with children’s books and notebooks, artworks and pencils, and maybe even a pack of popcorn. We are talking about backpacks, of course.

In its most of basic of forms, a backpack is but a sack carried on one’s back, secured by shoulder straps. But for Deuter, one of the most trusted brands in the world of outdoor sports, the backpack is a passport to great adventures. It is no wonder then that the backpack has become a veritable must-have not only for professional athletes and weekend outdoorsmen, but for urban warriors as well.

Founded in 1898, Deuter has been pioneering premium outdoor equipment for over 115 years. It first made its mark by providing the Bavarian Royal Mail with mailbags and post sacks. Eventually, the company developed backpacks, knapsacks, satchels, and tents, primarily for the German military.

But the call of the great outdoors proved to be too tempting to resist, and soon, Deuter was outfitting pioneering mountaineering expeditions with backpacks and tents, putting their manufacturing skills and expertise to the test. In 1938, German mountain climber Anderl Heckmair brought along a Deuter backpack when he led the first successful ascent of the North Face of the Eiger. Fifteen years later, Deuter was with Austrian mountaineer Hermann

Buhl and his crew when they conquered Nanga Parbat in Pakistan, the ninth highest mountain in the world. That Deuter’s history is closely intertwined with that of modern mountaineering is no surprise as the company has consistently worked with the sporting world’s best in order to develop revolutionary systems and innovative products.

Today, Deuter provides the best fitting backpack for virtually all types of outdoor adventure, from hiking, biking, and trekking to mountain climbing and skiing. It also makes a wide selection of highly functional, top quality outdoor products from bags and sleeping bags to bike accessories and hydration systems. For families who like going on weekend hikes and camping under the stars, Deuter has developed kiddie-sized sleeping bags and child carriers with ventilated back systems. For city dwellers who have to traverse the urban jungle every day, Deuter offers a line of satchels, laptop bags, and duffel bags.

But at the heart of Deuter is its unwavering passion for the great outdoors. This is evident in each and every one of its products, which have been engineered to perform well outdoors and withstand the changing moods of nature, giving its wearer more than ample support.

At the Deuter concept store located at the SM Mall of Asia, its amazingly functional designs will be on full display. Leading the pack is Deuter's world-renowned AirComfort System. By creating a space between the pack and the wearer's back, this revolutionary mesh back system reduces perspiration by 25 percent. With its three-way ventilation, Deuter’s AirComfort System decreases the wearer’s average heart rate and load on the cardiovascular system, increasing his level of endurance. Carrying fully-loaded packs all day long wouldn’t seem such a burden with Deuter’s AirComfort System. With groundbreaking innovations such as this, Deuter makes exploring the world a fun and fulfilling pursuit!

Medical City Acquired Its 2nd Cath Lab

Also called as Artis Zee a state-of-the-art multi-purpose imaging system that allows clearer, more accurate images of the arteries of the heart, brain, internal organs, and limbs was acquired by The Medical City and this will be the second one which further expanded its capability as Catheterization Laboratory.

With the addition of a second imaging system, the TMC Cardiovascular Center hopes to address the treatment of cardiovascular emergencies in a more effective and timely manner. Interventional cardiologists can perform longer vascular procedures without compromising access to an emergency procedure if needed.

“Those who depend on us to take care of their cardiac patients can continue to rely on us for excellent care,” says Dr. Gregorio Martinez, Jr., Head of the Cardiac and Vascular Catheterization Laboratory and the Cardiovascular Center. Dr. Martinez clarifies that responding to cardiac cases, especially heart attacks, is time sensitive. Delays in treating a heart attack patient impact on the size of the damage to the heart muscle, and ultimately hthe patient’s prognosis. Prompt diagnosis and right treatment within the specified time frame is vital.“The TMC Cardiovascular Center has an Acute Myocardial Infarction Program which targets a 90 minute Door-to Balloon time. This means that a heart attack patient who walks through the doors of our emergency room should have the blocked coronary artery opened in the Cath Lab within 90 minutes. TMC’s expanded Cath Lab capacity, backed by experienced and highly competent interventional cardiologists and support staff who are trained to handle such complex cases, can assure patients of the best possible and the most timely cardiac care,” explains Dr. Martinez.

“The expansion of TMC Cath lab will raise the bar for cardiac care at The Medical City,” says Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Michelangelo Sabas. “Adding a second Cath Lab system not only provides us with the latest technology but will also allow us to care for more patients and reduce the backlog of patients waiting for diagnostic testing. It enables us to care for multiple urgent care patients at once. We can see more patients with less disruption of patient care with this second Cath Lab system.” Interventional procedures done in the TMC Cath Lab are minimally invasive treatments where doctors use catheters, introduced through a small skin puncture, to access the heart, the coronary arteries, the arteries to the brain and various organs in order to treat abnormal conditions. Furthermore, the TMC Cath Lab offers state of the art technology for coronary angiography and angioplasty, valvuloplasty, pacemaker implantation, peripheral vascular angiography and angioplasty, embolization procedures, cerebral angiography and coiling of intracerebral aneurysms.

For more information about The Medical City Cath Lab, you may contact tel. nos. 988-1000 or 988-7000 ext. 6278.–end-
