DTI, Gov’t Agencies Connect Farmers and Consumers at Kadiwa ng Pangulo in Alaminos

Laguna, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), along with other national government agencies, showed its full support for the Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) at the Alaminos Municipal Hall on February 07.

The KNP aims to eliminate market layers by allowing farmers to sell directly to consumers. This initiative also connects micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in agriculture, manufacturing, retail, and services directly with their customer base. By streamlining distribution channels, the KNP empowers these MSMEs to maximize earnings and contribute to economic growth.

The Alaminos local government unit (LGU) conducts KNP twice a year, with this event being the first to be staged this year.  Its successful launch was a collaborative effort between the Department of Agriculture and its partners: the DTI, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and relevant departments within the Alaminos LGU.

As part of DTI Laguna’s commitment to the initiative, a Diskwento Caravan was organized in partnership with Puregold-Alaminos, Laguna and Generika. Three microentrepreneurs—3A Footwear, EFF Footwear and Mywill Food Products— took part in the trade fair.

Customers included employees of the Alaminos Municipal Hall, members of the Bureau of Fire Protection, students and teachers from nearby schools, and local residents of Alaminos. Shoppers who learned of the KNP's presence in the area also visited the event.
