Run for Fun, Fitness, Pets and the Environment at Vermosa Green Run

Imus, Cavite, Philippines – Two thousand five hundred runners and 256 dogs ran for fitness and fun at the second Vermosa Green Run at Imus, Cavite recently,

recommitting their love for the environment as they recycled plastic bottles on-site. The multi-level run consisting of 3K, 5K, 10K and 21k distance categories added a 1K Dog Run this year that proved to be brought out hundreds of dog owners who relished the bonding time and fun adventure with their pets.

 “We brought back the Green Run because we were inspired by the response to the first Green Run. We saw how eager people were to get back to being active and resuming their normal lives in 2022 and and we received many requests to have another one this year. Then we added a Dog Run because we see a lot of individuals and families bringing their pets here to recreate and just chill on weekends, even weekdays. We’re
glad we included fur babies in the fun because the response was overwhelming. We are definitely going to hold The Green Run every year in this vast, pollution-free space,” said Vermosa Project Development Manager Moses Aragones.

Entertainment celebrity Valeen Montenegro of GMA, an avowed Green Run enthusiast and serious runner, has participated in both Green Runs. “Last year I ran the very first half marathon of my life. This year I was able to break my 10K personal record and finally did a Sub 1 pace.”

“Running has many physical and mental benefits. It’s cardio, a calorie burner, it improves bone and muscle strength, gives you stamina and a runner’s high. Mentally, it has helped me manage stress, it has improved my sleep and I have more energy all day,” said Valeen.

The run was staged inside the 740 hectare Vermosa Estate, Ayala Land Estates’ fourth largest estate, now cited as the newest growth center down south. Designed for complete mixed-use development similar to other Ayala Land properties, Vermosa is known for promoting an active and healthy lifestyle through state of the art sports facilities and recreational areas. It will be a complete package of residences, malls, offices, institutions, schools, a church, entertainment venues, sports-lifestyle facilities, government centers and BPOs.

Vermosa continues to commit to the environment by giving part of the Green Run proceeds to Haribon Foundation’s Adopt-a-Seedling Program. “Through the Green Run, we want to create greater awareness for the need to sustain life in our planet and help build stronger, fitter, happier individuals,” Aragones shared.

Vermosa Estate is Future-Ready

It’s all systems go for the Vermosa in Imus and Dasmarinas, Cavite as more amenities and major support systems for its projected business and residential community go up in succession this year.

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) is nearing completion of its 115 kV-34.5kV substation within the 752-hectare mixed use development along Daang Hari Road. The fully dedicated substation will house three transformer banks with a combined capacity of 249 megavolt amperes (MVA) to accommodate new and additional load applications in the area. Current and future Vermosa residents and business owners are thus assured of ready and reliable power from Day 1.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has received lot parcel in Vermosa from Ayala Land Inc. on which to build its second headquarters in the province of Cavite. The Vermosa Red Cross headquarters will house the first-ever blood center in Cavite that can do complete collection, testing, processing and dispensing. It will ensure the ready availability of safe blood to Caviteños and nearby residents.

"The new office will provide ample space for the department services offices of Blood, Disaster Management, Safety, Volunteer, Red Cross Youth, Health, and Welfare Services. Additionally, it will feature a training center and conference facility that will support the organization's humanitarian efforts in the region," PRC said.

“Vermosa is much more ready for emergency response because it has a 24/7 response team,” said Moses Aragones, Vermosa Project Development Manager. Other government institutions that are part of the Vermosa master plan include a Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) station office.

More community support features will go up in 2024. The community parish, the Church of St. Sebastian, will ground break in 2024, while the awaited Sports Play Park opens in the second quarter of 2024. Retail outlets, the new Ayala Mall Vermosa and a Landers Superstore will provide consumer perks to residents and guests. A transport terminal is part of the community support system.

By year end of 2023, a new residential district will be launched in the northern part of the estates, followed by a logistics facility in 2024. Vermosa is further expanding its commercial offerings with its latest phase of lots in Campus Town, opening up opportunities for locators to invest in property with fast-moving value appreciation.

Vermosa Promotes Fitness and Fun with Fur Babies at the Green Run

The Green Run, Vermosa Estate’s signature run to promote physical and mental fitness by running in the great outdoors, is back and there’s a special treat for dog owners and pet parents this year.

Along with the 25K, 10K, 5K and 3K distance categories, Green Run 2023 has a special 1K race for those who want to bring their doggos along on an adventure. Called The Dog Run, this fun race is open for dog owners who want to hit the lush green trails of Vermosa with their dogs.

 

Just like humans, dogs need exercise for their health and happiness. Walking or running together is not just fun, it is a rewarding experience, health-wise, for both fur parents and fur babies.

 

Both dogs and humans will enjoy the beautiful routes at Vermosa that wind through wide open spaces and abundant greenery, made more runner-friendly by wide pedestrian walkways, bicycle and jogging lanes and enhanced greenways. But before they embark on their joint fun and fitness journey, here are a few reminders for dog parents to ensure their dog buddies get the best experience from the Dog Run.

 

1.    Make sure your dog is wearing a back-clip harness instead of a collar. Any pressure on his/her throat while running is potentially dangerous.

 

2.    Warm up before the Run. Do a few minutes of walking or slow jogging before you position yourselves at the starting line. Stretch your dog by letting him/her lie down and stand up several times. Give him or her time to sniff around and take time to poo or pee. Make sure you have waste bags ready.

 

3.    Feel the surface for at least 10 seconds. If the pavement’s too hot for your hand or bare feet, it will be the same for your dog. Wet your dog’s under pad for some protection before you take off. Or use canine booties to protect them from the heat. Booties will also provide protection against any sharp objects on the trail.

 

4.    Take water breaks. If your dog is panting hard, he/she probably needs water. Make sure you have a container that your dog can drink from – like a collapsible bowl or a bottle with a spout for dogs. Making sure your dog is well hydrated – especially in really hot weather – will protect him/her from sun stroke. Just don't let your dog gulp too much water during or after exercise.

 

5.    Don’t give treats right after the run. Give your dog time to recover from all the panting and sweating. Hold off on treats until both of you have calmed down a bit. Don’t give ice water right away. The extreme temperature change may cause vomiting. But praise for your running buddy, petting, a hug and lots of attention will be much appreciated and can be given anytime.

Vermosa Green Run 2023 Re-Commits to the Environment and adds a 1K Dog Run

Due to insistent public demand, Vermosa Estate’s fun and healthy Green Run will be back on June 25, packing more treats and surprises for both serious and casual runners. This year’s theme is “We’re Back And Greener Than Ever”.

The Run celebrates the green outdoors and promotes healthy and active living. It’s even more fun this year because dog lovers can run with their four-legged, fur babies in a 1-KM Dog Run. Both pets and their owners will have a great way to bond, get fit and have a meaningful experience together.

Alongside the Dog Run, Vermosa Green Run 2023 has four other running events for runners of different fitness levels. Serious athletes, athletes in training, weekend athletes, fun runners, fitness enthusiasts, family and friends can choose which one among the 21K, 10K, 5K, 3K or the 1K Dog Run they would like to conquer at Vermosa. Celebrity runners, dog owners and athletes are expected to take part in this year’s Green Run.

After a successful first staging in 2022, Green Run 2023 is organized by Pinoy Fitness, a running, fitness and multisport event organizer. Proceeds of the Run will go to Haribon Foundation’s Adopt-a-Seedling Program, to build a greener tomorrow. Runners and guests can also help to protect the environment by recycling their plastic bottles at the Sun Life ReCycle PH machine on-site. Every bottle donated can earn participants points which can be exchanged for prizes.

Green Run’s exclusive non-life insurance partner, FPG Insurance, will also provide all race participants with a 1-month Personal Accident (PA) insurance coverage, ensuring their safety and peace of mind throughout the event.
