Early Christmas #Feels from Coke Studio Season 3!

The SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds has been witness to a heap of international and local acts in the past years, and last December 13 was no different. The Coke Studio Christmas Concert 2019 was filled with Christmas feels by the Coke Studio Season 3 Artists that gave world-class performances of their own hits and much-awaited collaborations with each other.

Sarah Geronimo, This Band, Al James, Inigo Pascual, Ron Henley, St. Wolf, UDD, Just Hush, Bea Lorenzo, Clara Benin, Janine Teñoso, Brisom, Silent Sanctuary, Morisette, and Lola Amour were Coke Studio’s early Christmas gifts for us. The gates opened at 2:00 PM, and the Concert Grounds were quickly filled by fans. The show commenced at 5:00 PM with This Band’s hit ‘Di Na Babalik and ended with Coke Studio Season 2 alum December Avenue’s Kung ‘Di Rin Lang Ikaw that capped off everyone’s feels trip by midnight.

The Coke Studio Christmas Concert 2019 was hosted by Ylona Garcia and Justin Quirino with performances from Down By 18, Agsunta, The Juans, and Coke Studio Season 2 alums IV Of Spades, and Quest.

THE SOUNDS OF HEARTS BREAKING

With first love comes the first heartbreak, that first brush with pain when nothing seems to bring comfort or relief. Nothing, except for music.

This is familiar territory for the rock band ST. WOLF. Known for their solid beats and gut-wrenching lyrics are KL de la Cruz (vocals), Vince Lucero (guitars), Karlo Magsalang (bass) and Bob Sadural (drums). These guys aren’t afraid to explore the deepest emotions and the ugliest truths that can come out in relationships; their most popular songs, ‘Jealousy,’ ‘Taguan,’ and ‘Papara’ all attest to that.

KL says, “With songs, you have to let them feel your sincerity, that is the most important thing. As long as you write, perform and sing with sincerity, the audience will know.”

When St. Wolf first sat down to brainstorm with Morissette for their Coke Studio Season 3 collab, the band was happy to find out that she considers rock music part of her DNA.

Morissette is known for her power ballads, but she calls rock, “her comfort zone.” She reveals, “I actually grew up listening to old-school rock bands when I was a child in Cebu. My dad was in a band and I would go around with him, so I do love rock!”

This common foundation made their Coke Studio Season 3 collaboration a match made in musical heaven.

Vince puts it this way, “I think our collab works because it’s really all about the feels—we bring the feels with our lyrics and she brings the feels with her performance.”

Focusing on writing a break-up song is a particular process, Bob says, “What we have lived through, we just put it into the song. That’s when the song becomes powerful.”

KL, who got his start in Christian music, adds, “I believe that of faith, hope and love, the greatest of these is love. So to explore the loss of love, can really make for a great song.”

Morissette was quick to add, “What’s good with a break-up song is that it can help explain what the feeling is. It can help you understand exactly what you’re going through! Young people will really be able to relate to it…and that’s all we want, a song that is relatable."

“Feel the Rhythm, Hear my Feelings”

Today's TeenGen is a lot more vocal and expressive with what they're going through or what's on their minds. Whether it be a kilig moment with crush, heartbreak, getting recognized in school, or a cause they strongly support, teens of these days can teach us a thing or two about having no holds barred.

It has been a year since our Homecoming to Teen Love, this year, Coke Studio brings us its 3rd Season: MyFeels. Indeed, no one does it better than Coke when it comes to launches with the Coke Studio Music Festival that commenced the Coke Studio Season 3: MyFeels last August 23 at the Circuit Makati with our hosts from the Summer Concert Ylona Garcia and Justin Quirino. 

Headlined by Coke Studio Season 3 artists, we welcomed the rainy season with rush of water and stream of feelings ranging from love, freedom, independence, and moving forward. We moved to the groove with Iñigo Pascual, Ron Henley, Al James, Lola Amour, This Band, and Miss Sarah Geronimo while Janine Teñoso, Clara Benin, Bea Lorenzo, Silent Sanctuary, Brisom, St. Wolf, Just Hush, UDD, and Morisette serenaded us with their solo performances. Also giving us surprise numbers were Coke Studio Seasons 1 and 2 alums Ben & Ben, December Avenue, and IV of Spades.

We used to be shy about sharing what we feel, no matter what it is, to people around us even the ones we trust. Coke Studio: MyFeels is here to turn the tables, its time to celebrate our feels and make it known that no one can dictate the validity of our feelings.

Just when we thought 2019 is going too fast and time is running out for us, Coke Studio came to the rescue with its 3rd Season and made us realize to celebrate every single thing no matter how little they are, look out for the possibilities that learning from triumphs and slumps can give us, and keep in touch with the feels of people around us and ourselves.
