DTI E-COMMERCE DIVISION SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES CTRL+BIZ: REBOOT NOW! REGIONAL ZOOM SHOWS

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the E-Commerce Division, has recently concluded the CTRL+BIZ Reboot Now! Regional Zoom Shows – a series of webinars conducted across different regions wherein local entrepreneurs learned different E-Commerce skills straight from the E-Commerce market leaders.

The webinar series, which ran from 29 June - 23 September 2021, also introduced the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to different platforms such as e-marketplaces, digital wallets and logistics services to give them a wholistic learning during the three-day sessions.

Through the support of the DTI Regional Offices, the E-Commerce Division was able to travel virtually across the 16 regions of the Philippines and educate 3,830 participants from various walks of life about marketplace platforms, digital payment solutions, and logistics service providers they can onboard with, as they transition from traditional brick and mortar stores to digital market players.

The Assistant Secretary and E-Commerce Lead, Mary Jean Pacheco further highlighted the opportunities the program offers.

“Through this project din po, we learned more about the profile ng ating mga participants. From the registrations, we see that most of them ay nasa Level 1 pa lamang sa Level of Digitalization. Sila po yung mga gumagamit lamang ng basic tools for online business. Mas lalo kaming na-inspire to help you to reach Level 3, dito yung level na gumagamit na ng iba’t ibang advanced tools tulad ng analytics,” she said.

The Regional Zoom Shows was done in partnership with the following e-commerce partners: Amazon, Shopee, Lazada, Zilingo, Zalora, foodpanda, Unionbank GlobalLinker, Pick.A.Roo, Facebook, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Visa, GCash, PayMaya, UBX, Robinsons Bank, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation, Google Philippines, Lalamove, FedEx, QuadX, and Grab.

From the 3,830 participants, 2,836 of them expressed their intent to be endorsed to the said platforms. This event is also in consonance with the Agenda 14 of the E-Commerce Philippines 2022 Roadmap which aims to “implement a cohesive full-scale MSME digitalization program among government agencies nationwide.”

Keep the Number You Love When You Move DITO

Manila Philippines – DITO Telecommunity invites mobile phone users to make the move to DITO while keeping their existing phone number. Starting September 30, thanks to the Mobile Number Portability law, Filipinos can now avail the service for free when they change network providers or switch to a different subscription plan.

What is Mobile Number Portability or MNP?

In compliance to the Republic Act 11202 or the Mobile Number Portability Act, Mobile Number Portability (MNP) gives mobile phone users the freedom to choose their telco service provider conveniently and seamlessly. Aside from being free of charge, MNP also offers subscribers the flexibility to transfer from one telco to another or switch from prepaid to postpaid and vice-versa without having to give up their phone numbers.  

To enable the porting services for the Mobile Number Portability law and ensure its smooth implementation, all three Philippine telcos formed an alliance through the Telecommunications Connectivity Inc., (TCI) which will oversee all the activities under MNP.

How to apply for MNP?

To start the process, applicants must first submit an MNP application to their existing provider, after which they will be given Unique Subscriber Code (USC) that they will need to provide when applying for either a new plan or a different network. 

For those switching providers, it will take 24 to 48 hours to activate the transfer, and there will be a 60-day period before a user is allowed to request another transfer. Another good news for subscribers is that there is no limit to the number of times one can switch between telcos. 

Easy and seamless porting when you move to DITO 

Now covering almost 300 cities and municipalities nationwide and boasting over 3 million subscribers since its launch this year, DITO is offering a seamless and hassle-free porting experience to new subscribers. To move to DITO, applicants can submit the requirements through any of DITO’s Experience Stores nationwide. 

To transfer to DITO from a different network provider, a subscriber must ensure that they meet the following requirements: must not have any outstanding financial obligation with their current mobile service provider; mobile number is not locked to any service provider; have no porting request in the last 60 days; mobile number is not prohibited from porting by a court of law; subscriber has not been blacklisted by a network provider for fraudulent activities; must have an active mobile number; mobile number must not be part of a bundled service or product of another network provider; mobile number is not the principal contact number in a multi-number account.

To start the process, applicants must first submit an MNP application to their provider to get their Unique Subscriber Code (USC), which they need to provide when applying. DITO currently only offers prepaid plans.

BRAVE CF PAYS TRIBUTE TO BOXING LEGEND MANNY PACQUIAO

BRAVE Combat Federation, the fastest-growing mixed martial arts promotion in the world today with global presence in five continents, is paying tribute to Filipino boxing icon Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao.

 

The 42-year-old southpaw from General Santos City, Philippines officially announced his retirement from the sport of boxing on Wednesday, September 29, which came on the heels of his decision to run for president in the 2022 Philippine national elections. 

 

Pacquiao walks away from the squared-circle with a professional record of 62-8-2 with 39 victories by way of knockout. 

 

He is the only pugilist in history to win multiple world titles in eight different weight classes and was long rated as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world by most sporting news outfits and boxing websites.

 

The Pinoy fistic sensation was hailed "Fighter of the Year" three times by both The Ring Magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA).

 

In addition, the BWAA body recognized Pacquiao with the "Fighter of the Decade" citation for the 2000s.

 

From his professional debut in 1995 as a minimum weight competitor, Pacquiao rose up the scales to claim outstanding wins over the who’s who of boxing, including Lehlo Ledwaba, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosley and Timothy Bradley Jr.

 

 

Transitioning from boxing’s best-kept secret to a global sporting figure, Pacquiao’s shocking eighth-round stoppage of De La Hoya in December 2008 made him a crossover star and a media darling.

 

Many in the combat sports community praised the legendary boxer for his successful and incredible career, including BRAVE CF President Mohammed Shahid.
