CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA (18 July, 2025) - With today’s weigh-ins in the books, the fighters are ready to make history tomorrow night in Cape Town, as the inaugural season of PFL Africa kicks off and PFL Champions Series Road to Dubai: Cape Town takes place.

In the main event of the PFL Champions Series Road to Dubai: Cape Town card, the PFL Middleweight World Championship is up for grabs, as defending champion Johnny “Pressure” Eblen (16-0) of the United States faces challenger Spain’s Costello “The Spaniard” Van Steenis (16-3). Eblen weighed in at 185.0 pounds, while Van Steenis weighed in at 184.6 pounds.

In the co-headlining bout of the night, undefeated “Dangerous” Dakota Ditcheva (14-0) of the United Kingdom takes on Sumiko “Lady Samurai” Inaba (8-1) of Hawaii in a Showcase Women’s Flyweight bout. Ditcheva weighed in at 125.4 pounds, while Inaba weighed in at 124.6 pounds.

Also on the card, former Bellator Featherweight Champion AJ “Mercenary” McKee (22-2) of the United States weighed in at 146.0 pounds, while Russia’s Akhmed Magomedov (11-1, 1NC) weighed in at 145.4 pounds for their Showcase Featherweight Bout.

Plus, the First Round action of the PFL Africa tournaments begin, as the best Bantamweights and Heavyweights in Africa look to move closer to championship gold.

Eduard Folayang Inaugurates New Training Facility, Announces Formation Of Lions Nation MMA With Longtime Teammates

Eduard “Landslide” Folayang has taken a leap forward in his illustrious mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

Stepping beyond the confines of the Circle, the two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion has embarked on a noble endeavor to share his expertise and passion for the sport by opening the Landslide Martial Arts Training Center in La Trinidad, Benguet.

He held its inauguration on Saturday, June 24, with the gym placing a strong emphasis on character development and personal growth apart from the physical aspects of combat sports training.

“We don't just train fighters; we unleash greatness within individuals. It's not about the punches thrown or the techniques mastered, but rather the transformative journey that occurs when you push beyond your limits, conquer your fears, and discover the champion’s attitude within,” Folayang said.

“This is not just a place to train, but a sanctuary where dreams are realized and legacies are born.”

Folayang’s brand-new gym provides a comprehensive space for training, complete with a miniature cage for MMA scrimmages, a dedicated area for grappling drills, and an assortment of punching bags.

Recognizing the importance of recovery and relaxation, the facility also includes a sauna room.

“The vision of our new gym is to provide a holistic and complete training experience for every individual,” the 39-year-old Baguio City native shared.

During its opening ceremony, Folayang unveiled that the Landslide Martial Arts Training Center will be the base of operations of Lions Nation MMA, the stable that he has founded alongside longtime teammates Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, and Joshua “The Passion” Pacio.

Joining them on the team are Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly and Jeremy “The Juggernaut” Pacatiw, as well as a cluster of up-and-comers such as Estrada Donga-as, Denver Songaben, Aaron Posawen, and Jahn Serbo.

Lions Nation MMA will be having Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Gibran Langbayan and striking coach Don-Don Colas as their in-house trainers.

The 2022 PFL World Championship takes place on Friday, November 25 at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Finalists will face off for six world titles and six $1 million champion’s purses. Superstar Kayla Harrison will look to earn her third PFL title when she takes on knockout artist Larissa Pacheco in the card’s main event, which will also feature the league’s new star signing “Hurricane” Shane Burgos in a welterweight clash against Marlon Moraes.
 
PFL is the first and only MMA league with a true sports-season format where elite fighters from around the world compete in a Regular Season, Playoffs and Championship. The four competitors in each division who earn the most points in the Regular Season advance to the win-or-go-home Playoffs, followed by the biggest night in MMA – the PFL World Championship – with each winner going home with the $1 million prize.
