Globe Brings Learning, Music and Inspiration to Students in Cagayan Province

Cagayan province is home to over 3.66 million people, with youth aged 15 to 24 accounting for nearly one-fifth of its population. Internet use is widespread, with three out of four residents aged 10 and above already online. Yet, many continue to face barriers in accessing and maximizing digital tools in ways that are safe, responsible, and creative.

To help bridge these gaps, Globe launched a series of engagements that gathered more than 750 students across the region, providing lessons on digital citizenship, leadership, and creative expression.

Building on this effort, Globe organized a three-day program in partnership with three institutions. The sessions combined digital literacy modules, leadership workshops, and creative platforms designed to nurture future-ready communities in Cagayan province.

Investing in the Next Generation

Globe’s programs in Cagayan province reaffirm its commitment to prepare young Filipinos for the future by strengthening their digital skills, leadership abilities, and creative platforms for self-expression.

“As we saw in Cagayan province, young Filipinos are already shaping their own futures with technology, leadership, and creativity. At Globe, we see the youth not just as future leaders but as leaders of today. Our role is to stand beside them as they build a better tomorrow for their communities and the nation,” said Raymond Mancilla, Territory Business Head.

A Generation of Innovation, Leadership, and Community

In Cagayan, Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) is empowering students to be not just digital natives but active changemakers. At Peñablanca National High School, 250 students joined DTP sessions on responsible digital citizenship. Instead of passively waiting to learn, they shared the advanced AI tools they already use in their studies, such as Nomunity, Study Talk, Perplexity, Blackbox AI, and Scholar.ai — proof of their openness to innovation and their ability to find new ways to learn.

At Cagayan State University, more than 350 student leaders gathered to explore how leadership can be rooted in everyday actions that shape their peers and communities. Through DTP and complementary workshops on inclusivity, responsibility, and student voice, participants were encouraged to see themselves as active drivers of change.

The program culminated in the TM Fun Music concert, which brought together over 2,500 students from the CSU Andrews and Carig campuses. Performances by Amiel Sol, student artists, and local talents transformed the event into a celebration of creativity and community spirit.

“We sincerely thank our partners at Globe for sharing their time, efforts, and resources with the students of Cagayan State University Andrews Campus. Through the Digital Thumbprint Program, we were reminded of the importance of using technology responsibly, while the concert gave us a chance to celebrate and come together as one community. These activities brought both learning and joy, leaving a lasting impact on us as more informed, connected, and inspired individuals,” said Kyle Aron Tan, CSU Student Regent and Andrews Campus Student Council President.

Beyond the Skills

For the 150 medical student leaders at the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines, DTP offered more than lessons on digital responsibility. It became a reminder that in healthcare, leadership is not measured only by knowledge but also by empathy, ethics, and accountability. “The seminar was an eye-opening experience for all the student leaders, making them realize the importance of being responsible digital citizens in today’s fast-changing online world. I believe that each of us gained practical knowledge on how to protect our identity online, secure our personal information, and be more critical when encountering content on social media especially with the rise of fake news and misinformation,” said MSNP-ISAP Student Activities Coordinator, James Vidad.

From classrooms to concert stages and from leadership workshops to personal journeys, Globe’s work in Cagayan province highlights one truth. The brilliance of Filipino youth is the country’s greatest harvest. By nurturing their potential, Globe is helping shape a generation of leaders, creators, and changemakers who will carry the promise of a brighter future.

RUEL RELEASES MESMERIZING NEW SONG “WILD GUESS”

Australian pop-sensation Ruel returns with his new track “Wild Guess” available now via Giant Music – Listen HERE“Wild Guess” showcases a raw, stripped-back vulnerability that highlights the emotional depth of Ruel’s evolving sound. The track is co-written by RuelLeroy Clampitt (Justin Bieber, Madison Beer) and Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift), and produced by the multitalented duo. The track is the latest taste off Ruel’s forthcoming sophomore album Kicking My Feet due October 17, 2025 and will be premiering via New Music Daily on Apple Music, accompanied by a FaceTime interview with Zane Lowe. The album is available for pre-order HERE.

With soft, folk-inspired vocals and bare acoustic textures, “Wild Guess gently captures the slow unraveling of a relationship and the quiet ache of not fully understanding why it ended. “I’m not so sure / but I’m taking a wild guess / you’re slipping away from me,” Ruel sings with acceptance. The track unfolds patiently, mirroring the emotional distance between two people, before arriving at the bittersweet realization in the chorus: “It’s been a wild ride, but I won’t be your baby anymore,” embracing the cold truth that sometimes the best things have to end.

Wild Guess” is the third release off Ruel’s forthcoming record and follows the bluesy “The Suburbs” and lead single “I Can Die Now.” Kicking My Feet marks the start of a new era for Ruel; one that feels creatively liberated, emotionally nuanced, and sonically bolder than ever. After relocating from Sydney to Los Angeles and signing with Giant Music, Ruel immersed himself in a new creative ecosystem and began building the album from the ground up.

I knew I wanted to push myself on this new album, but it wasn’t until I had to finalise the track list that I realised I’d actually made over 200 songs for Kicking My Feet – Ruel

He worked closely with some of the industry’s most celebrated and genre-shaping producers, including Julian Bunetta (Sabrina Carpenter, One Direction), Joel Little (Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams), Kenny Beats (Dominic Fike, Ed Sheeran), Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift, Chris Stapleton), and longtime collaborator M-Phazes (Eminem, Kehlani, Ruel’s debut album). Together, they crafted a record that is sonically adventurous and deeply personal, blending pop, alt and R&B, into a cohesive, modern sound. The result is a genre-blurring, emotionally relatable album that reflects Ruel’s evolution as both a person and an artist.

Australia’s pop prodigy Ruel is growing up and it shows on his highly anticipated sophomore album Kicking My Feet, available Oct 17th via Giant Music. Pop’s newest It Boy has been on the rise since he was a teenager, adorning his studio walls are an ever-growing collection of platinum plaques and award statues from the likes of RIAAMTVARIA and Nickelodeon

He has amassed over three billion streams, sold out multiple world tours and regularly attends fashion shows at the invitation of luxury haute couture such as Louis Vuitton and Hermès. Away from the runway, Ruel’s admiration for unique, highly conceptualised style can be seen in his editorials with Prada and Fendi, and through his extensive list of features on the pages of VogueGQ, NME and The Face. Around the world, eyes have been keenly watching Ruel’s career ascent; notably by Sir Elton John and Zane Lowe, both of whom have sung the praises of the UK-born, Sydney-raised talent, calling him a "superstar."

Kicking My Feet showcases the 22-year-old’s sharpened songwriting as he explores the innocence and embarrassment of being young and in love, as the album title teases. Alongside frequent collaborator M-Phazes, the album has Ruel expanding his roster of creative partners, including Dan WilsonJoel LittleKenny Beats and Julian Bunetta. The experimentation with his sound and artistry, has Ruel evolving himself into a bolder musician on an unmissable trajectory.

Culture Wars is Locked and Loaded with its Latest Single “Lies”

Following up on the nuclear success of “Typical Ways”—its most massive hit to date with over 5M Spotify streams and counting, Austin-based alt-rock band Culture Wars is right back on the attack with a new single, “Lies”. This one is an anthemic track about the heart-breaking betrayal and lies of an unfaithful partner, showcasing frontman Alex Dugan’s dynamic vocal range.

The band’s highly-anticipated forthcoming album “If not now, when?” (release date to be confirmed) is unapologetically bold and oozing with energy, filled with ambition and heartfelt rock anthems that clearly resonate with a new generation craving for authenticity and honesty. With a masterful blend of emotional intensity and modern edge, Culture War’s Alex Dugan, David Grayson, Dillon Randolph, Caleb Contreras, and Josh Stirm are gaining serious traction in the industry and have now opened acts for some of the biggest names in music, including LANY, Maroon 5, The Script, Keane, The Cult, and Banners.

With over 23 million streams, a growing presence on TikTok, and a top 20 spot on US Alternative radio, Culture Wars is cementing its status as one of indie rock’s most promising new bands. The band is currently working on US and UK tour dates.

ABOUT CULTURE WARS:

Culture Wars initially built a following through word-of-mouth and energetic live performances. Songs like “Faith” and “Lose Money” blew up on streaming services, contributing to the group’s widening audience. “Leave Me Alone,” featured on the GRAMMY-nominated Bill & Ted Face the Music soundtrack, enjoyed an organic boost from mega-influencers and became Culture Wars’ first Top 30 Alternative Rock hit.

As the band’s name implies, seemingly disparate passions battle within the songs, somehow beautifully making peace. Their new work combines the past, present, and future with bold swagger. They make honest, expertly crafted, ambitious rock music crafted to resonate with a diverse audience. The distinct sound Culture Wars developed blends the most vital rock and alternative music elements, earnestly emphasizing actual guitars.

STAYC Makes Their Summer Comeback with a ‘Cool’ Attitude and a ‘Hot’ Sound!

For immediate release - Beloved for their honest, confident energy and fresh charm, STAYC returns this summer with their special 3-track special single I WANT IT, delivering an addictive hook and energetic vibes that blow away the heat and weight of everyday life.

This new release showcases a new side of STAYC, blending their signature brightness with a cooler, more laid-back attitude that perfectly captures the feeling of summer. The special single features three tracks: the title track “I WANT IT”, along with “BOY” and “Honestly(반칙)”.

Title track “I WANT IT” is an electronic dance-pop song with a powerful synth riff and rhythmic progression that creates an instantly addictive hook. The lyric “Good things we ok” encapsulates a mindset of staying true to oneself and moving forward with unwavering confidence, even in life’s uncertainties. The message “Even my imperfections are my weapons” reflects STAYC’s bold self-assurance and unique brand of coolness as they continue to embrace and celebrate who they truly are.

“BOY” is a medium-tempo urban pop track that layers dreamy synths over an 808 bassline. Its lyrics capture the honest, fluttering emotions felt at the start of love — adding a sweet and relatable note to the special single.

“Honestly(반칙)” (literally meaning “foul” or “unfair”) uses clever wordplay to express the feeling of constantly being pushed back in love. With its groovy bassline and retro wood synth sounds, the track creates a dreamy yet urban atmosphere that resonates with anyone who has felt love’s playful unfairness.

With I WANT IT, STAYC continues to evolve their sound and image, combining honest storytelling with an irresistibly refreshing vibe. We’ve Heard One Side. Now It’s Time for The Other

They say it’s important to hear both sides of the story. And while The Juans opened up about their experience– the confusion, the waiting, the aching silence of a situationship– that’s not the whole picture.

Because for every person brave enough to ask “Ano Ba Talaga Tayo?”, there might be someone on the other side quietly holding back.

What keeps them from speaking up? Is it doubt? O baka naman hindi rin kasi nila alam saan sila nakatayo sa’yo? After all, who says you’re the only one who wants clarity? Malay mo, sila rin.

Now, the other side is finally being heard.

The Juans collaborate with vocal powerhouse Janine Berdin to continue the story, adding new depth to a song that has already hit close to home for so many. With Janine adding her own signature tone into the mix, we can get a glimpse of the often unspoken emotions of the other side- the side we don't always get to hear from.

“This collaboration breathed new life to the song in ways we never imagined,” The Juans leader Carl Guevarra shares.  “With this version, it feels like two hearts finally daring to speak. The new arrangement brings that conversation to life, and we hope it speaks to anyone who’s ever been caught between love and uncertainty.”

What started out as a one-sided question is now evolving into a shared experience. And maybe through this, we can get one step closer to clarity… or at least to being understood.

Ano Ba Talaga Tayo ft. Janine Berdin is now available on all major music streaming platforms. Listen now!

Rising Singer-Songwriter Rol3ert  Releases New single “Nerd

His new single “Nerd”, released on 25th June under Exciter Records, arrives as an poignant anthem for those navigating solitude while still holding on to hope. A tribute to the “beautiful nerds” looking toward the future, the track blends emotional vulnerability with melodic clarity. Rol3ert revealed that the melody came to him during a bike ride,  and the song, written primarily in English, features emotionally piercing verse in Japanese that strike a deeper chord:

“I erased my colors

And I was okay with that

But I was still scared of the end.”

The song eventually unfolds into a quiet, affirming message that reads like a conversation with his younger self:

“Don’t die

Don’t throw it away

Believe in the feelings inside you

Live honestly

Trust in your emotions.”

These lyrics resonate not only as a personal reflection but also as comfort for a generation coming of age in uncertain times.

“Nerd” is co-produced by MONJOE (known for his work with yahyel, DATS, Number_i), who brings a dreamlike groove to Rol3ert’s sparkling yet shadowy indie pop/rock sound. The track was mixed and mastered by Masahito Komori, whose credits include Fujii Kaze, Kenshi Yonezu, and Official HIGE DANDism, adding polish and depth to an already immersive production.

The accompanying music video portrays the story of a “nerdy” boy, lost in his own world, who unexpectedly forms a quiet connection with a girl he meets. Their awkward yet sincere “not-quite-dancing” choreography contrasts poignantly with the emotional intensity of the song. Actress Aika Sonoda (known for her work in Japanese film and television) plays the female lead, lending the story a soft, mysterious presence.

In his self-written liner notes, Rol3ert reflects:
“Even though I’ve lived for 19 years - seeing, feeling, absorbing so much - there are still moments when I wonder what the right answer in life really is. That feeling of being totally alone, like you're the only person in the world... I think everyone experiences it at some point. The more you chase answers, the more you can lose sight of yourself. That’s why I believe in facing the ‘nerdy’ parts of yourself, the awkward, overly sensitive, insecure sides that make you feel different. I don’t know if that’s the right answer, but I hope it is. I’ve put that hope and that version of myself into this song.”

Rol3ert’s first solo show, “3mpty”, will take place on 4th July at Daikanyama SPACEODD in Tokyo. It will be a special night where the narratives behind “meaning”, “HOPE” and “Nerd” come together. Ticket details are available here

On 27th July, Rol3ert will appear at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL performing on the Pyramid Garden stage with a three-piece live setup featuring Colombian bassist/manipulator Alex and guitarist Kenshin Sugimura. The set is highly anticipated as Rol3ert’s music meets the natural atmosphere of Fuji Rock’s iconic festival grounds.

Title Option 1: Filipinos Love Concerts, but Venue Infrastructure Gaps are a Threat to the Experience

Title Option 1: Filipinos Love Concerts, but Venue Infrastructure Gaps are a Threat to the ExperienceTitle Option 1: Filipinos Love Concerts, but Venue Infrastructure Gaps are a Threat to the Experience

Countries with better, bigger, and more competitive concert venues have reaped economic benefits, especially with the massive and significant influence of popular international acts like pop superstar Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and Coldplay’s World Tour in consumer behavior and spending.

Driving tens of thousands of ‘Swifties’ and concert enthusiasts, the success of these concerts was an economic stimulus for countries worldwide, including Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore and Japan.  Filipino fans alike had to spend big and travel miles to watch the exclusive performance of superstar Swift in Singapore’s National Stadium while others went to Japan’s Tokyo Dome and Sydney’s Accor Stadium in Australia. The massive concert gigs boosted the respective country’s economies, benefitting entertainment, hospitality, retail, and transport industries significantly.

While Singapore’s strategy for a Southeast Asia exclusive Swift performance piqued interest and likewise piqued its neighboring countries, the strategic move sparked conversations and brought to light what the Philippines can improve on in terms of concert venues.

1. Location is key

The Philippines doesn’t lack in big venues. In fact, it boasts of venues that can rival Singapore’s National Stadium and Japan’s Tokyo Dome. Accessibility to the location as well as public transportation and nearby commercial establishments are key.

2. Concert Experience

Photo credit to Stanley Quek. An empty Singapore National Stadium, viewed from the front stage.

Singapore’s pride, the National Stadium, has innovative features such as the world’s largest free-spanning dome, a retractable roof and comfort cooling technology for spectators’ convenience. Its innovation, strategic location, and efficiency bring positive and immersive experiences for enthusiasts and concert fans, making it a magnet for entertainment acts from all over the world. A similar concert venue and experience is something that Filipino concertgoers are hoping the country can replicate.

3. World-class concert amenities and facilities

Accessing the venue's amenities and facilities should offer a premium music experience for concert enthusiasts or convenience in a sporting event.

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 held in SM Mall of Asia Arena – Photo from SM MOA Arena official website

Take for example the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena – a flexible indoor arena developed in 2012 by leading integrated property developer SM Prime – that has been a top-of-mind venue for all sorts of events and offers a unique concert experience. With a full house seating capacity of 20,000, it has been a haven for thrilling sports events, remarkable OPM shows, and unforgettable international superstar performances.

Meanwhile, the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque City is likewise an enormous outdoor venue that can accommodate at least 50,000 people. Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics Tour and Rivermaya The Reunion were among the performers that have graced the stage recently.

4. Achieving Filipinos’ concert dreams

One of the most forward-looking plans of SM Prime is its 360-hectare smart city development which is envisioned to bring in a centerpiece to the country’s entertainment and sporting events – larger in capacity and a more enhanced venue infrastructure that would attract legendary icons in the entertainment scene and compete against Southeast Asia and the world’s best. It will feature an estimated 70,000-capacity stadium and concert arena connected to one of the island’s main destination paradises called Central Park. The sizable arena is envisioned to be the Philippines’ biggest concert venue, with world-class facilities and sustainable features, comparable to other big concert venues worldwide. Once that’s built, Filipinos won’t have to fly overseas because they can watch top-tier performances right from the comfort of their home country.

Without a doubt, Pinoys live and breathe entertainment shows. In fact, Filipinos are the 4th top concert spenders in Asia-Pacific according to digital payments company Visa, proof of how passionate we are about concerts. By investing in the development of modern, smart, and accessible concert venues, Filipino concert enthusiasts can continue to embrace and celebrate live performances with the convenience, comfort, and enjoyment they deserve. Beyond entertainment, well-curated, smart, and innovative concert facilities can further drive economic benefits to the Philippines’ national and local economies, including ancillary local spending in retail, tourism, and hospitality.
