Chooks-to-Go honors MVP, Smart in new Gilas Pilipinas partnership

Basketball plays an essential part in Filipino culture. Being more than just a game and a sport, it has become the country’s source of pride and has exuded incredible power to unite people.

Gilas Pilipinas, the country’s national basketball squad, has become famous for its unique brand of basketball, as it turns a collective heartbeat each time the team steps on the hardcourt. In recent years, the team was able to own the term “puso” when they put up a tough fight against more fancied opponents in the global basketball arena. 

The solid support from Manuel V. Pangilinan and Smart Communications united the entire country in one hope that Gilas Pilipinas will finally triumph.

For 2017, as the team suits up for its renewed quest, Chooks-to-Go joins Smart to reinforce Gilas’ campaign in its quest to qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

The new partnership was launched during the “#ManokNgBayan” event, which Chooks-to-Go hosted for MVP, Smart and Gilas Pilipinas.

“It is only right for the entire country to recognize the selfless and overwhelming support of MVP and Smart of Gilas Pilipinas. The journey united the country and gave Filipinos hope that we can compete with the best in the world” said Ronald Mascariñas, president of Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc., the company that operates Chooks-to-Go. “We are extremely honored to be given the chance to participate in this glorious quest of MVP and Smart to regain Philippine basketball supremacy in Asia. We are optimistic that Gilas Pilipinas will qualify in the 2020 Olympics, wow the world with the Filipino brand of basketball and instill pride among the Filipino people.”

#ManokNgBayan set the stage for another momentous event where three unmatched Filipino favorites team-up for the sole purpose of making a stronger impact on the global basketball arena. Attendees also witnessed the return of national team head coach Chot Reyes, the man behind the electrifying moments during the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships.

With this stronger alliance comes a renewed hope. And as Filipinos once more, shout “puso” to cheer for their squad, the country’s bet, they’ll be now rooting for ang mga manok ng bayan. 

1st BusinessWorld Economic Forum

The country’s biggest names in business will speak at the first BusinessWorld Economic Forum happening on July 12, 2016 at Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Themed “Charting Progress to 2020”, the highly anticipated event will tackle the country’s present and projected economic situation in light of the forthcoming changes in public governance.

Vice President-elect Maria Leonor “Leni” G. Robredo will open the morning sessions with the topic on “How To Attain Inclusive Economic Growth” while incoming Department of Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez will start the afternoon sessions with the discussion on “The Philippine Economy Under the New Presidency.” MVP Group of Companies Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan will be delivering the keynote speech.

The speakers will provide their expert viewpoints on the forum’s five discussion sessions: succession, sustainability, integration, disruption, and capacity. The session on succession is expected to encourage discourse and provide answers on how the country can prepare its next generation leaders. Sustainability will discuss how the corporate sector ensures the sustainability of financial gains. The session on Integration will focus on the business imperatives of regional integration and is expected to address questions on how the country can leverage on free trade agreements (FTAs) to broaden its market and product or service offerings as well as how economic integration be made more inclusive.  Disruption will explore how technology has blurred the distinctions between industries and will explore the questions on which industries are due for a shakeup and how companies wage competition across multiple fronts. The last session is on capacity which aims to highlight the way companies address the challenge of infrastructure and supply bottlenecks in a growing economy.

The session topics are crucial to understanding, predicting and influencing the Philippines’ business and economic growth today and in the coming years.
