BGC Is Bridging the Arts and Sciences with the Ultimate Indi e Weekend

Putting up a local feast for the mind and soul, the Ultimate Indie Weekend in Bonifacio Global City will bring a two-fold Independence Day celebration on June 10 – 11, 2017 with the Philippine’s first Manila Mini Maker Faire and the 2nd BGC Arts Center Festival “BGC Loves Local.”

To show that we can bridge the arts and sciences, Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc., a non-stock, nonprofit organization, is spearheading the Manila Mini Maker Faire through The Mind Museum to put the country on the global tech map, and the BGC Arts Center Festival through the BGC Arts Center to feed your cultural soul.

“No township in the Philippines has ever deliberately made pillars out of science and the arts as part of its founding and development. And with The Mind Museum on its 5th year and the newly created BGC Arts Center, we are even more inspired to rally this science-and-arts bridge to help in nation-building and culture-making”, explains Maria Isabel Garcia, Curator of The Mind Museum and Head of Content of the BGC Arts Program.

Groups of homegrown creative artists, scientists, and engineers are expected to come together in this one rare weekend event. “This fantastic weekend is for everyone – families, friends -  everyone curious as to how the arts and the sciences are connected and how these fields talk to each other to serve our lives better. This is the kind of weekend who has engineers, artists and performers to give us fascinating technologies and uplifting performances that could improve the quality of our days – which is the greatest form that art and science could take,” adds Garcia.

BGC Arts Center Festival: Revealing Facets of Modern Filipino Performance Artistry

Firing off a passionate start for 2017, the BGC Arts Center marks its identity as the home of the Filipino artist. True to its word, it will hold the BGC Arts Center Festival - a 2-day arts festival on January 14-15, hosting performances and events that will illuminate the many layers that modern Filipino artists are animating, to give voice to the range of the human condition. The BGC Arts Center is the centerpiece of BGC’s cultural district. It is a project of the non-profit, Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc. which also gave us the The Mind Museum, the first world class science museum in the country. The BGC Arts Center is the first and only stand-alone theater established through private donations. A collaboration by award-winning architects and designers, the BGC Arts Center is composed of the Maybank Performing Arts Theater, the Alveo Central Plaza, and the Sun Life Amphitheater. The BGC Arts Center Festival is aligned with how the Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc. (BAFI) recognizes the integral role of having the two great human traditions of art and science, shape, deepen and enrich a city’s identity and contribute to the larger cultural story of our nation. Aiming to keep art alive and accessible through various cultural activities, BAFI champions public art - through murals, ArtMart, BGC Impromptu, public performances - as an essential part of community life. The BGC Arts Center is committed to offer the breadth and depth of Filipino artistry to the community. As such, the Art Festival will offer a wide range - from totally original Filipino creations to brilliant local adaptations of works with universal themes. The festival will include children’s plays from Artist Playground and Kids Acts Philippines, several dance performances by STEPS, staged readings of selected scenes by The Egg Theatre Co., a performance of an original play by Artist Playground, a supremely engaging performance by a pioneer Filipino Improv group, SPIT Manila, an acclaimed local production from Twin Bill Theater, an award-winning original Filipino musical from Philippine Stagers, and opera pieces from MusicArtes, Inc. Completing the Arts Festival are art talks, outdoor events such as BGC Art Mart that regularly feature the work of local artisans and other surprise offerings at the Sun Life amphitheater. Musicals. Plays. Dance. Improv. Spoken Word. Concerts. All Pinoy. All Great. Check out the BGC Arts Center Festival event page on Facebook for the schedules and details of the performances.***

Aeternum, a latin word for Eternity. This is were I went last weekend which is rather one of the interesting tour in the Metro but this time it will be for awareness on how ready we will be in our future. This is a sensitive topic but a reality that everyone will face in the future.

My professor ones said that when we live in this life, we will face 3 facts: first fact of life is change which is something that we will encounter in our lifetime, second is tax and we will face this weather we like it or not and whether it will fall to the right hands or the wrong pocket, and third fact of life is we will live and will eventually die so the next question will be how ready are we to face it.

Aeternum is within the general vicinity of the Fort Bonifacio Global City, the premier business and residential address in Metro Manila. We were all made aware of who and what Aeternum is and its services all questions were answered in the Question and Answer portion of the program after our tour in the vicinity. One of the answers that retained to my mind is that you don't have to be rich to avail the services of Aeternum because they also have installment packages that can fit the budget of an ordinary Joe.
