Record-Breaking 9,230 McDonald's Stripes Run Participants Ran for a Aause, Raising PHP1 Million for Children’s Literacy

Manila, Philippines, December 2023 – Over 9,230 participants, ranging from families to groups of friends, and solo runners took part in McDonald’s Stripes Run 2023 held last December 10, pledging their support in elevating children’s literacy – a milestone for McDonald’s garnering the highest number of participants after 12 years of holding the program. 

Held at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, Stripes Run saw McDonald’s brand reaching its goal of raising 1 million pesos for the Ronald McDonald House Charities' Read to Learn program while providing an avenue to bring feel-good moments to families and friends this holiday season. 

Overall, the 9,230 participants were able to garner as much as PHP 1 Million for the Ronald McDonald Read to Learn, a program that teaches beginning reading to Grades 1 and 2 public school students.

Throughout the event, participants not only ran in the category of their choosing but were also able to take part in the advocacy-driven activity. 

An added layer of excitement to Stripes Run was also felt this year, as a new category, Fur Stripes, was introduced in this year’s iteration, allowing participants to run alongside their fur babies. 

At the end of the run, smiles on everyone’s faces showed what a memorable time all had at the Stripes Run, made even more special with the knowledge that every runner was able to show their support for elevating Filipino children’s literacy.

Run to Show Your Support for Children’s Literacy through McDonald’s Stripes Run 2023: Run for Reading

Manila, Philippines - October 27, 2023 – Calling families, friends, and…even furry friends! McDonald’s is set to mount its well-loved Stripes Run: a fun, advocacy-driven running event that brings together families and friends to support Filipino children's literacy.

To be held on December 10 at the SM MOA Concert Grounds, McDonald’s Stripes Run continues to raise one million pesos for Ronald McDonald House Charities’ (RMHC) Read to Learn program which aims to elevate the literary skills of Grades 1 and 2 public school students. RMHC is McDonald’s Charity of Choice, committed to improving the well-being of Filipino children and Families.

Now on its 12th year, Stripes Run 2023 invites more Filipinos to run for reading as it welcomes not only families and friends, but fur babies as well! Through the new 1K Fur Stripes category, pets can now participate alongside their fur moms and dads, letting them enjoy the run’s festivities, too. Fur Stripes will be available as a category for interested participants upon registering, alongside a wide variety of other categories for different distances and age groups: 1K Kiddie Stripes, 3K Stripes, 3K Family Stripes, 5K Stripes, 5K Squad Stripes, and 10K Stripes.

• Step 2: Register in your desired category and fill up all the details required. Registrants will be given the option to choose delivery or pick-up of race kits. Pick-up of race kits will be available in select McDonald’s stores from November 13 to December 3.

• Step 3: Check your confirmation email indicating a successful registration. 

• Step 4: Claim your race kit on your chosen date of pick-up or wait for the delivery of your race kit.

McDonald's Shares the Light this Christmas by Giving Back

PHILIPPINES - December 22, 2022 – McDonald’s continues to share more Happy Meal smiles by sharing the light this season to children from partner communities by donating one million toys through the McDonald’s Happy Meal Toy Donation Drive.

On December 16, during the official turnover event, Dr. George T. Yang, McDonald’s Philippines Chairman & Founder himself led the sharing of the one million Happy Meal toys to the beneficiaries of McDonald’s charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House of Charities Philippines or RMHC. Present to receive the Happy Meal toys was Haron S. Meling, a representative from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and joined by Sen. Robin Padilla.

With the leadership of Dr. George T. Yang, McDonald’s was able to share the gift of Happy Meal smiles to various LGUs such as Pasig, Mandaluyong, Antipolo, Marikina, Floridablanca, Presidential Security Group (PSG), Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, and the MMDA. In addition to this, other organizations and different LGUs also received Happy Meal toys from McDonald’s to share more smiles within their local communities.
