AMD Introduces EPYC Embedded 4005 Processors for Low-Latency Applications at the Edge

AMD announced the EPYC Embedded 4005 Series processors, purpose-built to address rising demand for real-time compute performance, cost efficiency, while optimizing system costs and extended deployment lifecycles in network security appliances and entry-level industrial edge servers.

Built on proven AMD server technology, AMD EPYC Embedded 4005 Series processors have been designed with features that address the unique demands of applications requiring low latency, efficient design, longevity, and affordability. Built on proven AMD server technology, AMD EPYC Embedded 4005 Series processors have been designed with features that address the unique demands of edge applications requiring low latency, efficient design, longevity, and affordability. This scalable processor family delivers leadership performance-per-watt with advanced security and connectivity features, high frequency cores with large L3 cache, and extended product lifecycles.

The high-performance AMD “Zen 5” x86 architecture integrates up to 16 cores and 32 threads in a compact 4 nm chiplet design. This processor is tailored to maximize multi-thread performance and simplify software development, enabling quicker time to market.

The device features high clock speeds and up to 128 MB of L3 cache enabling lightning-fast data management and is performance-optimized for latency-sensitive tasks like network packet processing, and industrial real-time control systems. It also supports the AVX-512 instruction set with a 512b data path that optimizes efficiency and performance for AI inference workloads. The configurable 65W–170W thermal design power (TDP) range allows customers to balance performance and efficiency for their specific embedded use cases, such as next-generation firewalls (NGFWs).

Long-term Value for Embedded Customers

Embedded solutions demand more than performance alone — they require longevity, stability, and resilience. EPYC Embedded 4005 Series processors deliver with seven years of planned manufacturing availability to ensure supply stability, built-in RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) features such as DRAM ECC, on-chip ECC/parity, and PCIe error detection to maximize runtime operation.

Ease of integration is also critical for embedded deployments, and the EPYC Embedded 4005 leverages the same AM5 socket used across multiple EPYC generations. This consistency streamlines board design and system development, enables scalability across the AMD embedded ecosystem to reduce engineering complexity, and ensures ongoing x86 software compatibility for faster time-to-market and easier long-term maintenance. The device helps developers’ future-proof designs by enabling them to easily upgrade their existing solution.

Advanced Security and Connectivity

EPYC Embedded 4005 processors are engineered with the connectivity and bandwidth required for next-generation edge applications, including:

  • DDR5 memory support at 5600 MT/s with 128-bit width and sideband ECC ensures high throughput and reliability.
  • PCIe Gen 5 support with 28 lanes and 11 root ports enables designers to integrate high-speed networking, storage, and accelerators with ease.
  • Built-in AMD Infinity Guard security features help protect sensitive data from today’s sophisticated attacks and avoid downtime.

With the launch of the EPYC Embedded 4005 Series, AMD is expanding its commitment to embedded markets. Customers gain a platform that combines leadership performance, robust connectivity, ease of integration, and long-term support – helping them to innovate faster, simplify upgrades, and deploy with confidence.

FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.2 Now Available on GPUOpen.com

FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.2

AMD recently announced that AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.2, the latest update to AMD’s advanced cross-platform temporal upscaling technology, is available on GPUOpen.com, giving game developers access to the open-source API and source code.

AMD’s FSR technology is designed to boost framerates in supported games and deliver incredible image quality. FSR 2.2 builds upon the improved upscaling image quality provided by FSR 2.1, delivering further quality enhancements to alleviate ghosting on fast-moving objects.

The widely-adopted AMD FSR technology – including both FSR 1 and FSR 2 iterations – is now available and upcoming in 250 games and growing.

AMD will be providing more information about its upscaling solution and other technologies that enable game developers to deliver new levels of performance and visual fidelity in the latest titles at this year’s Game Developer Conference (GDC), taking place March 20 – 24, 2023. At GDC, AMD experts will cover topics including AMD FidelityFX technologies, Microsoft DirectStorage, the AMD Radeon Developer Tool Suite, and more.

ASUS Philippines Leads Educational Advancement Anew, Equips Training Center for Filipino Chinese Cultural and Economic Association (FCCEA)

October 10, 2019 -- ASUS Philippines, together with its long-term partners in ASUS Foundation and the Fil-Chi Love and Care Foundation, showed once more its commitment and might in providing better learning opportunities for educational and career advancement. This time around, ASUS Philippines and its key partners equipped the training facility for the employees of the Filipino Chinese Cultural and Economic Association (FCCEA), with twenty-two (22) units of the ASUS Vivo AiO, an All-in-One PC which is designed to maximize their productivity and intuitive learning.
“We chose ASUS Philippines and the ASUS Foundation as our partner for this program to ensure that the employees of FCCEA will be provided with the best learning experience,” shares Bella Huang, CEO of Fil-Chi Love and Care Foundation.
“Here, they see ASUS as a great help in bridging digital transformation. ASUS is always on top of our minds, as they are easy to approach, and are always willing to give back to the community in need,” she closed.

Deputy Ambassador James Chu (First row, 3rd from left), Director Herman Chong (First row, 2nd from left), Dr. Jeffrey Cheng Yu a (Second row, 4th from left), and  Bella Huang (First row, 5th from left) together with the members of FCCEA experiencing the ASUS Vivo AiOs in the brand new learning center.

Attended by no less than Taipei Economic & Cultural Office Deputy Ambassador James S. Chu, the grand opening of the newly-quipped learning facility in Binondo, Manila, also highlights the close ties between Taiwan and the Philippines, and how ASUS Philippines continues to be a strong proponent for good international relations between these two neighboring states.
“This partnership with ASUS Philippines and ASUS Foundation is really important. By providing these computers as an instrument, students will learn efficiently. So I think this [CSR] program is one step closer towards a brighter future,” shares TECO Deputy Ambassador James S. Chu.
George Su, Country Manager of ASUS Philippines closes, “We are always driven to stretch our resources to communities in need, of course with the help of our various partners. And as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary, it is especially relevant for ASUS Philippines to be more active with our CSR programs. Our business is not just about creating innovative products.
