Kami naman, Ma! McDonald’s Captures the Essence of Biving Back to our Mothers with its Mother’s Day Short Film

McDo Mother’s Day Short Film

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – May 12, 2023 – As we grow up, our mothers are growing old too. This Mother’s Day, McDonald’s releases its Mother’s Day short film that captures the essence of appreciating the love and care our mothers gave us while we were growing up. Now that we’ve grown, it’s for us to step up, give back, and say “kami naman, Ma!”

The short film opens with a daughter meticulously going through her mother’s travel bag then finds that she forgot to pack her senior citizen ID, to which her mom affectionately jokes, “senior moment!” Soon enough, her mom’s friends start coming in to fetch her for their trip, but before going away, the daughter hands over McDonald’s as a pabaon, an act of love that our mothers have done for us many times when we were growing up. The short film ends with a flashback to when it was still the mom sending off her little daughter to a field trip, indicating how times have already changed and now it’s time for the daughter to give back what her mother has done for her while growing up.

Pinoys Love their Nanays: GrabAds insights show how busy Filipinos get around Mother’s Day

GRAB MOTHERS DAY

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 11 May 2023 - Having close family ties is one of the hallmarks of Filipino culture. Hence, it comes as no surprise that holidays celebrating the family unit are much beloved in the Philippines. Among the most anticipated is Mother’s Day – and insights from GrabAds, the advertising arm of the leading superapp, show that Pinoys do get busy creating special moments for their nanays every second Sunday of May.

The GrabAds SEA Mother’s Day Insights Report 2023 gives brands and consumers a clear picture of how Grab – with its portfolio of convenient, reliable services like GrabFood, GrabMart and GrabExpress – enables and empowers users to create extra-special Mother’s Day celebrations for their moms.

Here are some interesting insights from the report!

  1. Filipinos plan for Mother’s Day

Filipinos take Mother’s Day celebrations seriously. In fact, 88 percent of Grab users in the Philippines have already come up with plans specific to Mother’s Day 2023. The respondents look forward most to gathering their families, ordering food online, and going out for a meal together with their loved ones and, of course, their inays.

  1. Filipinos order food and ship out items a lot more on Mother’s Day

GrabAds insights also show that Filipinos are happy to create special dining experiences at home as they tend to order more on the second Sunday of May. In 2022, GrabFood orders rose by 25 percent on Mother’s Day versus the average number of food orders across all Sundays of April. The most expensive GrabFood order on Mother’s Day last year was a Php 7,000 steak set –  a much-deserved treat for the family!

Padala items also tend to be on the road more during Mother’s Day. For instance, last 08 May 2022, there were 37 percent more GrabExpress Deliveries versus the average Express Orders on the Sundays of the month prior. Indeed, no distance is wide enough to stop the simple thank yous and love yous Filipinos wish to express to their moms.

  1. Filipinos enjoy ordering on-demand gifts on Mother’s Day

Gifts overflow during Mother’s Day, too! 8 out of 10 Grab users in the Philippines plan on buying their moms a gift, and 82 percent of these are keen on buying a gift from Grab. Among the most popular choices on GrabFood and GrabMart during Mother’s Day last year were cakes and pastries, flower bouquets, and home and kitchen appliances. Chocolate, ube, and fresh fruit reigned supreme as the top preferred cake flavors

Truly, with reliable and convenient on-demand delivery services like GrabFood and GrabMart, gifts no longer come with the usual long queues, heavy traffic, and aisle-to-aisle exploration in-store.

“Mother’s Day remains to be one of the most important gifting occasions in Southeast Asia. Our GrabAds report shows a surge in user activity one week before the day itself, across the region, as people start looking for ways to make this day extra special for their loved ones," said Jennie Johnson, Head of Regional Marketing, GrabAds. “This Mother’s Day, merchants and brands across the region have the opportunity to connect with consumers looking for the perfect gift for their mom via superapps like Grab”

Creating a special Mother’s Day celebration should be easy and hassle-free –  and Grab makes sure of this. With the wide merchant selection and reliable on-demand delivery services of both GrabFood and GrabMart, you can easily pick and order mom’s faves for an intimate family dinner; or even include special add-ons just to express how much you treasure her. Tip: Check out the promo code MAMAMART on GrabMart and ILYMOM on GrabFood on May 14, 2023!

Andok’s Champions Lasting Memories this Mother’s Day with #HourMama Campaign

May 12, 2019 - MAKATI, Philippines - When was the last time we took some time off to create a lasting memory with our mother?

This question and our tendency to be overly connected to technology led to popular Litson Manok chain Andok’s to take a back-to-basics observance of Mother’s Day. This year, Andok’s seeks to inspire families to disconnect from their mobile devices and create lasting memories with their mothers on their special day.

Dubbed as #HourMama, Andok’s campaign seeks to encourage people to dedicate at least an hour for some uninterrupted bonding time with their mother.

“Over the years, we have seen technology successfully bridge various gaps in human experience. However, we tend to be so excited with the advancements and the connections we can make from afar that we forget to give the gift of being present to our loved ones who are right beside us,” shared Maverick Javier, Executive Vice President of Andok’s Litson Corporation.

“This inspired us to encourage everyone to take an hour of their time to take a step back, look around, and create new core memories with the people around them. And we thought it is best to kick-off this campaign by sharing new memories with our mothers on their special day.”

The campaign kicks off at Andok’s branch in Makati Avenue where customers and guests go offline from 12 noon to an hour and connect with the mothers in the restaurant. The branch’s WiFi will go WaFi (walang WiFi) as the restaurant’s wireless Internet connection shuts down during this hour. Fueling these personal and live interactions among families is the signature taste of Andok’s offerings, allowing the families to punctuate their connections with Andok’s iconic dishes.

“Andok’s has always been about doing things with heart and appreciation. With #HourMama, we aim to not just have a heart-to-heart connection with our valued customers, but to build meaningful relationships and memories within families. We are hoping this activity will pave the way to more observances of #HourMama as our fellow Filipinos spend more quality and uninterrupted time with their moms – even beyond Mother’s Day. Of course, this is best done with the offerings of Andok’s that we’ve all come to know and love,” adds Javier.

Everyone is also encouraged to join the campaign on Mother’s Day by taking a photo with their mothers after a dedicated offline hour and posting it using in social media using the hashtag #HourMama.
