Through its commitment to fostering brotherhood, providing service to the community, promoting unity, and seeking divine guidance, the Fraternal Order of Eagles - Philippine Eagles, Inc. endeavors to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities in the Philippines.

Mr. And Miss Philippine Eagles Club 2024 organized by  Tfoe-Pe Inc. aims to create a stage for a conservative beauty pageant, both locally and nationally. The titleholders of Mister and Miss Philippine Eagles 2024 are not just symbols of beauty and royalty, but also compassionate leaders dedicated to serving their communities and championing important causes that impact the nation's future.

Indeed, the Mister and Miss Philippine Eagles 2024 pageant serves as a powerful platform to advocate for comprehensive, sustainable, and multisectoral strategies aimed at addressing the health and nutrition challenges faced by newborns, infants, young children, pregnant and lactating women, and adolescent females during the critical First 1000 Days (F1KD).

Danone Specialized Nutrition Inspires Healthier Nutrition Choices with its First Regional Campaign on Shopee

Shopee Danone

MANILA (PHILIPPINES), July 22 – Danone, a leading multi-local food and beverage company building on health-focused and fast-growing categories, and Shopee, a leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, launches the first Regional Brand Day, ‘Our Health, My Choice’ on Shopee Mall to provide consumers in the region access to Danone’s full Specialized Nutrition (SN) portfolio for the whole family. The SN portfolio includes core milk products for children and convenient cereal bars for pregnant women and lactating mothers, and adult nutrition for healthy aging. With more people going online to shop for health products, the collaboration aims to support more families to make informed nutrition choices and discover products that support their health and nutrition needs.

In line with its mission to bring health through food to as many people as possible, Danone ensures that its product portfolio provides the right nutrition across age groups with scientifically proven nutrients. In the Philippines, malnutrition remains one of the leading causes of child deaths. According to a UNICEF report in 2014, 95 Filipino children die from malnutrition every day while 27 out of 1,000 children do not get past their fifth birthday. A third of Filipino children are stunted, or too short for their age—causing them to fail to grow and develop to full potential. A 2019 study by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) stated that the current chronic malnutrition rate among Filipino children aged 0 to 2 is now at 26.2 percent, the highest in 10 years.

Deborah Chong, Head of E-commerce, Danone Specialized Nutrition Global, said, “We have witnessed incredible growth of our business online, including a 20 times growth across Southeast Asia during the Shopee 12.12 Birthday Sale last year. With more people turning to e-commerce platforms like Shopee to seek convenient and reliable product options, we believe this collaboration will further scale our presence in the region. Prioritizing consumers’ health is crucial for us and we believe this Regional Brand Day which focuses on our “Our Health, My Choice” theme, lets us show our care and appreciation for our customers by providing convenient access to products that support their health and nutrition needs.”

Maxime Lafarge, Country Manager, Danone Nutricia Philippines, added, “Danone is proud to partner with Shopee to fulfill our mission of making good nutritional choices accessible for more health-conscious consumers. We believe that our portfolio can cater to the specific nutrition needs of all consumers and encourage the consumption of essential macro and micronutrients for a well-balanced, healthy diet. That’s why we are very excited to leverage Shopee's wide reach and customer engagement tools such as Brand Membership to better connect with customers and provide them greater value all year round. They can also enjoy savings and rewards by signing up for the free membership on our official stores.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, shared, “With a 2.5 times growth in viewership compared to last year, live streaming is becoming a key part of the online shopping experience in our region. It has also grown to become an effective way for brands to acquire and connect with shoppers, showcase their products and prompt users to make purchases on the spot. We're excited to see more brands such as Danone enrich the shopping experience by integrating entertainment and educational content into their campaigns.”

IN CHOOSING PURIFIED WATER, ARE YOU SURE IT’S ‘UNTOUCHED BY HUMAN HANDS’?

Wilkins Pure

Sanitation concerns in the ongoing pandemic calls for ‘contactless’ procedures—that is, human touch at barest minimum during transactions whenever possible. This prevents the potential spread of the virus through human hands.

It makes sense that this same norm should also be applied in the production of packaged goods we buy, especially in something as essential as bottled water. When you wonder about your cleanest, safest choice for your everyday drinking water, it’s worth asking: which among the countless water brands available are bottled with the least hand contact? Is zero human intervention even possible in the bottling process?

It’s reassuring to know that Coca-Cola Philippines has Wilkins Pure which is guaranteed to be ‘untouched by human hands.’ A state-of-the-art and fully-automated production line helps ensure that every bottle is safe and free from harmful contaminants unseen to the naked eye, and is at peak quality for your daily hydration needs.

It doesn’t stop there. Every bottle of Wilkins Pure undergoes all of the 7 stages of purification — micro-filtration, multi-media filtration, carbon filtration, polishing filtration, reverse osmosis, UV treatment and ozonization. Such a thorough process ensures high quality water that is pure to the last drop.

This certainty of purity is authoritatively vouched for by international global safety standards. Wilkins Pure has qualified for: Food Safety System Certification version 5 as recognized by the Global Safety Initiative; NSF Certification; Certification of Good Manufacturing Practices, Certification for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Codex Alimentarius and ABWA Certification under the International Bottled Water Association; among other certifications for Occupational Health and Safety Management and Environmental Management. That’s all on top of the exacting the exacting global audit standards of the Coca Cola Company, acknowledged for its longstanding quality reputation worldwide.

“We know how important water is for our daily health and hydration. But in these times of uncertainty, we also know that the last thing consumers need to worry about is what bottled water to buy,” says Teejae Sonza, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Philippines. “With Wilkins Pure, they can be assured that what they’re buying is internationally certified safe and free from unseen contaminants, giving them peace of mind knowing what they are drinking is indeed pure and good for every day consumption.”

At a time where each day is faced with the threat of unseen enemies, don’t leave one’s health and safety to chance. Go with guaranteed safe drinking water, and ‘para sure’ choose Wilkins Pure. Order Wilkins Pure via cokebeverages.ph or call the hotline at (02) 8813-2653 for deliveries within Metro Manila and 1800-1-888-2653 for orders outside Metro Manila.

EXPERTS URGE PUBLIC TO TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT DRINKING WATER

M

Coca Cola quarantine

MANILA, July 6, 2020
– Health experts reveal that it is not enough that the water you drink looks clean to the naked eye. Your water should also be proven clean through lab tests, to avoid common water bourne diseases, such as cholera, dysentery, and gastroenteritis. Unfiltered water also has many potential contaminants, such as chlorine, heavy metals and allergens, as well as parasites.

Despite this, keep in mind that water is also important in everyday hydration. A document released by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition cites hydration as a key to supporting the body’s ability to fight the COVID-19 virus and support the immune system, recommending 2-4 ounces of clear liquid beverages every 15 minutes.

“Keeping properly hydrated at a time like this refreshes our bodies and keeps the virus away,” said Dr. Sybil R. Bravo, a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital and a member of the Blood-Bourne Infectious Diseases Core Team.

Health experts around the world continue to stress the need for proper hydration, along with getting enough sleep and proper handwashing, as the best ways to ward off the COVID-19 virus. However, access to safe and clean water continues to be a challenge. There are many harmful substances and minerals in unpurified water, and not all bottled water in the market is the same

Finding clean water that undergoes stringent purification processes to filter harmful substances and minerals means checking the purification process of which it undergoes. Some follow stricter and more stringent global processes to ensure that they are truly clean. Wilkins Pure, one of the water brands of The Coca-Cola Company, is certain to be clean and pure. With international certifications under its belt, Wilkins Pure goes through an advanced, seven-step purification process, which help assure that the water you drink purifies the body of toxins.

Nurturing the Gift of Worth Lodriga

When people talk about kids’ art, they often picture basic drawings composed of shapes and curves, with colors outside the lines. But from the beginning, young artist Worth Lodriga's work has been anything but basic.

When he was two years old, Worth’s motor skills were way advanced for his age that his art could be mistaken for a 5-year old’s. His mother noticed this innate gift when she was teaching him to read and write. She took a quick break and left him to play on his own, and when she returned, she saw her son doodling on the whiteboard. “I was amazed because I hadn’t seen a 2-year old boy who could draw a human being in 3D,” she said. That was the moment she thought of enrolling Worth in Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp.
Worth joined Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp 4, formerly known as Promil Pre-School’s i-Shine Talent Camp, when he was just four years old. There he explored drawing details, painting, and other crafty activities. “I enjoyed the experience a lot because I learned how to widen my imagination and make better art,” he said.

This exposure helped pave the way for his professional career as an artist. After joining the talent camp, Worth participated in and won several international competitions, including the Frogs Are Green International Art Contest 2016 in New Jersey, where he was pitted against 1,441 entries globally; the 2017 Airtime Watertime International Flotation Suit Design Contest in Santa Barbara, California; the 7-Star Artist Award at the Junior Picasso International Art Contest in India; and the 2017 Student Mars Art (SMArt) Contest in Colorado, U.S.A., where his piece “Where No Man Has Gone Before” won first place.

His latest recognition was the 10th Ani ng Dangal Awards for the Visual Arts category in 2018 where he was honored for garnering international awards from the previous year.

Ani ng Dangal was launched in 2009 to give honor and recognition to artists whose works and achievements have placed the Philippines among the best in the world.

Worth is a shining example of how parents play an important role in nurturing their kids' talents and making sure they are exposed to learning experiences that will hone and nurture these gifts. As such, Worth is further helping moms and dads nurture their children's gifts as he appears in the newest Promil Four TVC.

Just like Worth, parents can nurture the gift by allowing their children to explore their talents, and shine bright through experiences that will help further develop their skills. To know more about Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp 7, visit www.promilnurturethegift.com.ph for more details.

Promil Four i-Shine Talent Camp 7 Encourages Kids to Join and Nurture the Gift

Each child is born with a talent that can appear in any form. Various activities can unlock their potential that’s just waiting to be discovered. From singing to acting, and anything in between, your child’s gift can be nurtured through Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp 7, a summer talent development program in partnership with experts to help kids 6-11 years old become their very best.

Kids and parents were more than ready to discover and develop their child’s talent and passion as Promil Four launched the newest season of its talent development program, the i-Shine Talent Camp 7 at the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre in Taguig. As the brand stays true to its mission of nurturing the gift, the next generation of awe-inspiring kids will be guided to reach their full potential in the fields of performing and visual arts through mental, physical and social stimulation workshops.

To help kids reach their full potential, aspiring i-Shiners will engage in interactive learning workshops managed by only the finest experts/mentors of the country. Teachers Robert Alejandro and Kara Escay from Papemelroti for the Art Camp, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab returns as the camp master for the Music Camp, while Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy of the G-Force Dance School leads the Dance Camp. Furthermore, Audie Gemora heads the Theatre Camp, whereas Lisa Macuja-Elizalde guides the Ballet Camp.

All six mentors were presented during the launch of i-Shine 7, which also featured a talk by Dra. Leticia Peñano-Ho, President of the Philippine Center for Gifted Education. Dra. Ho discussed what giftedness is, how to spot and nurture it, and the importance of documenting a child’s journey to further help them develop their skills.

Also lending her knowledge and talent was a self-taught freelance photographer and “Promil kid” Shaira Luna who shared some photography tips during her Creative Documenting & Scrapbook Making Workshop. Meanwhile, the launch was hosted by seasoned actress Dimples Romana, who has been hosting the i-Shine Talent Camp ever since its beginning.

From singing to acting, and anything in between, your child’s gift can be nurtured through Promil Four’s i-Shine Talent Camp 7. Promil’s philosophy is to instill the importance of not only proper nutrition, but also proper parenting and guidance to fully support a child’s proper growth and mental development. This is in line with the brand’s advocacy of actively involving parents in helping nurture the gift of their child.

Promil Four i-Shine 7 Camps will run from April to May 2019, and will be administered not only in different cities around Metro Manila, but also in more locations around the country like Batangas, Cebu, and Davao to allow kids outside Metro Manila to experience what i-Shine has to offer. As it is important to hone and encourage kids’ talents at a young age, there will be a grand recital after the camp duration to showcase what kids experienced and learned during the camps.

Past i-Shiners include Lucas Magallano of season 2 and Yesha Camile of season 3 who, after the camp, went on to let their talents shine through special performances in various events.

###

Since 2009, Promil Four’s iShine Talent Camp has continued to evolve in helping mothers nurture the gift of their children by providing experts in various fields who personally design the summer talent camps for the children. Promil’s philosophy instills the importance of not only proper nutrition, but also proper parenting and guidance to fully support a child’s proper growth and development.

What You Need to Know About Intermittent Fasting

Most of us are wired to eat three meals a day, with five- to six-hour intervals between meals.

Medical studies show that fasting for about three days or even a week may help improve the immune system or general health condition. A new diet trend called intermittent fasting integrates fasting into the daily eating schedule.

The practice of intermittent fasting or the eat-and-fast plan varies, according to practitioners. But there are two main approaches. The first is to limit calorie intake to 500-600 calories for two days a week and eat normally for five days a week. The second is to limit the eating time period to within an eight- to ten-hour window. For example, you may schedule your meals between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m and fast outside those hours.

While this eating pattern may help lose pounds, experts say it can have detrimental effects on a person’s health.

It can trigger or worsen eating disorders. Intermittent fasting may promote the unhealthy binge-and-purge routine. You can eat almost anything during the feeding state but may feel guilty and ashamed afterwards for overeating and overindulging. If your mental and emotional state is fragile, this may lead to or worsen eating disorders like bulimia, wherein one binges on food and then purges. This can have serious effects on your health.

It can increase stress and anxiety.
Studies show that hunger can increase the stress hormone cortisol, leaving a person angry and craving something good to eat. Most intermittent fasters try to live off caffeine, but too much of it can increase anxiety and stress.

You can develop intolerance to certain foods and suffer inflammation. Fasting leaves you hungry, which prompts you to eat whatever you want later. Your “break-the-fast” diet most likely consists of gluten, dairy, soy and artificial sweeteners. These are reactive food that can contribute to a leaky gut and serious health conditions, such as food intolerances, gastric ulcers, diabetes and esophageal and colorectal cancer.

You may have sleep problems. People practicing intermittent fasting often complain about feeling restless before going to sleep. Food may be the reason for this. If you eat refined and processed carbohydrates, like white rice, during dinner, you are more likely to experience blood sugar crashes, which can interrupt sleep.

Making changes to your diet is good to have a healthy body. But before making such changes, be sure to do your research, consult your doctor and know the limits of your body.

The Truth About Fad Diets

“Fast and easy” diet programs are appealing to many people trying to lose weight. That’s because they want to be able to eat what they want and still lose weight. But are those methods safe, healthy and effective?

Here are some facts about fad diets to help people make informed decisions:

Fad diets may not be healthy. Fad diets may have short- and long-term effects on the body. In the short term, you may lose pounds but drastic weight loss without proper nutrition may have serious long-term effects on the body. When the body loses weight, the vital organs such as the liver and kidney will be overworked, as they try to get rid of excess fat and toxins from the body. It is important to support the body with proper nutrition. Proper monitoring of the body is needed when losing weight.

Fad diets are not based on nutrition. You are what you eat. Even if you are on a diet, your body needs the right nutrition to keep energy levels high and to avoid adverse health effects in the long run. To get all the essential nutrients, the diet should include balanced nutrition with different food groups, such as lean protein, vegetables and controlled fat and sources of sugar, like healthy carbohydrates and fruits.

Fad diets may lead to health problems. Losing weight may put some stress on vital organs. It is important that a person is healthy to go on a diet. It is always advisable to see a doctor before starting any weight-loss program and to be closely guided throughout the process.

Fad diets results are short-term. Most fad diets will help you lose weight for a short period of time, but you will eventually gain more than what you lost.  When the body does not get balanced nutrition, it will try to preserve itself by slowing down metabolism, making burning fat harder. While there may be weight loss initially, the body will eventually need more food to compensate for the loss, which can lead to more weight gain.

Fad diets may not help get rid of the fats. When weight and muscle are lost initially, you may be led to believe that a diet is effective. However, most weight loss resulting from fasting or starvation comes from burning vital muscles and not the loss of fat. When the body is starving, metabolism causes it to store energy, which it gets from body fat. But when there is little fat or muscle left, the body will start to metabolize the organs that are made of lean tissue. This may lead to stroke, heart attack or liver and kidney failure.

To lose weight, increase vegetable consumption, drink more water, eat lean protein, reduce fats and sugar consumption, including refined carbohydrates. Healthy habits like sleeping well and exercising will also aid healthy weight loss.

While you feel the need to lose weight, remember that your health matters more than the numbers on the weighing scale. Do your research before trying any fad diets.
