McDonald’s Philippines Turns Over 56th Bahay Bulilit to the City of Manila

McDonald’s Philippines and the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Philippines officially turned over the 56th Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit Learning Center to the City of Manila earlier in April.

In a ceremonial event held at the McDonald’s United Nations–Del Pilar store, McDonald’s officials handed over the key to the latest Bahay Bulilit Learning Center to Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, as well as other city officials. Located in Boystown Manila, this Bahay Bulilit is also the second such facility in the city following the one in Quirino.

As the newest Bahay Bulilit Learning Center in the country, Bahay Bulilit Boystown actively supports the early childhood care and development needs of young learners in the community. The nationwide network of 56 Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers serves over 5,000 preschoolers every year.

“Today marks an important milestone for us with our Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit efforts in Manila. We remain committed to working alongside partners to support workers, families, and communities in meaningful ways. The opening of the second Bahay Bulilit in Manila is also an expression of our continuing partnership with the city, not only through business, but also through programs that address community needs, such as education and employment, among others.” ~Margot Torres, McDonald’s Philippines Managing Director

Joining Mayor Domagoso at the event were Manila Vice Mayor Angela Lei Ilagan Atienza-Valdepeñas, City Administrator Atty. Eduardo Quintos XIV, and Manila Department of Social Welfare Head Jay R. dela Fuente. Also present at the turnover were top McDonald’s officials, which included Torres; Ben Marasigan, Vice President for Human Capital Group; Maricar Angeles, RMHC Executive Director; and Howard Lance Uyking, Corporate Communications Director.

In the same event, Mayor Domagoso provided rice assistance for McDonald’s crew members, including senior citizens who are part of the company’s inclusive hiring program, M for All. The Biyayang Bigas Para sa Maynila rice distribution was part of the city’s social relief measures, in partnership with the Office of the President under the 2026 Local Government Support Fund.

Since 2019, McDonald’s has been working closely with the City of Manila to provide economic opportunities for senior citizens. At present, as many as 51 senior citizens are actively working in 26 company-owned and franchise stores in Manila.

Starbucks Philippines Invites Everyone to be a Community Champion This Global Month of Good

Manila, Philippines – As part of its annual Global Month of Good celebration, Starbucks Philippines is reinforcing its commitment to the communities it serves – while inviting more Filipinos to take part in their own way.

This year, Starbucks highlights a simple but powerful idea: anyone can be a Community Champion through small, everyday actions that create meaningful change for the environment, the community, and other people.

“Our local initiatives are grounded in the belief that meaningful change starts with strong community connections,” said Jamie Silva, senior manager for Marketing, Digital Customer Experience and Social Impact, Starbucks Philippines. “From education to disaster response initiatives and partner volunteerism, 2025 reflects how collective action can create lasting impact.”

In 2026, Starbucks Philippines is expanding its community impact initiatives through strengthened partnerships, improved access to essentials, and more opportunities for both partners (employees) and customers to take part in meaningful action.

Supporting Communities Where They Need the Most
Through its partnership with Planet Water Foundation and The Starbucks Foundation, Starbucks Philippines provides clean water access and hygiene education to an estimated 42,400 people in various regions around the country. This April, a ninth AquaTower will be installed in Camarines Sur, extending access to safe drinking to around 7,000 more individuals.
Starbucks Philippines also continues its longstanding partnership with HOPE to support education. Each year, Starbucks partners (employees) come together to help build safe and inspiring learning spaces for underserved communities. This year marks the completion of a sixth public school classroom in Sarangani in April, helping provide safe and conducive learning spaces for students in the community.

Alongside its community initiatives, Starbucks Philippines is also strengthening its sustainability efforts within its store operations. Starbucks Philippines has partnered with MPower to supply electricity to around 60 Metro Manila stores under the Retail Aggregation Program. This partnership is expected to result in improved operational efficiency while supporting long-term sustainability goals.

Continuing Efforts Powered by Volunteerism
Starbucks’ commitment to being a Community Champion is also reflected through volunteerism and everyday participation.
Starbucks Community Stores in Abad Santos, Tondo, and Maysilo Circle continue to support education programs in partnership with AHA! Learning Center, Young Focus Foundation, and Mano Amiga Philippines. To date, more than 1,500 learners have benefited from after-school sessions, literacy development activities, and leadership-building programs that help them gain confidence and stay engaged in school.

Addressing food insecurity remains a key focus. Through its FoodShare program, Starbucks has redirected nearly 3 million rescuable food items from close to 300 stores nationwide. In partnership with The Philippine Food Bank Foundation and Grab Philippines, surplus food is distributed to various communities.

Beyond these organized programs, Starbucks encourages customers to take part in simple, everyday actions throughout Global Month of Good. In their own small way, store visits can become part of the impact. Customers can use for-here ware or bring their own tumblers for their coffee orders and enjoy a PHP 10 discount.

Simple actions, when done together, can create a meaningful impact over time. This Global Month of Good, everyone is invited to be a Community Champion. To learn more about the Global Month of Good, visit starbucks.ph/social-impact.

Prudence Foundation and UNICEF Philippines Partner to Protect Children from Climate-Related Health Risks

Taguig City, Philippines,  31 March 2026 – Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc, and UNICEF Philippines have launched a new partnership to help protect children and communities in the Philippines from the growing health impacts of climate change.

Through the REACH programme, the collaboration aims to strengthen health and social protection systems so they can better respond to climate-related risks such as extreme heat and air pollution that disproportionately affect children.

REACH, which stands for Resilience, Environment, and Child Health – Strengthening Health and Social Protection Systems in the Philippines, will support efforts to develop climate-adaptive primary health care systems, strengthen preparedness and response to heat stress and air pollution, and enhance shock-responsive social protection mechanisms for vulnerable families.

The programme will be implemented by UNICEF Philippines in partnership with the Department of Health, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Climate Change Commission, and local government units in Metro Manila and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

With support from Prudence Foundation, the community investment arm of Prudential plc, and Pru Life UK, the programme highlights the importance of strengthening resilience for children and communities faced with increasing frequency and intensity of climate risks.

“As the community investment arm of Prudential plc, Prudence Foundation focuses on building climate and health resilience through long‑term, collaborative solutions. Our partnership with UNICEF Philippines under the REACH programme reflects this commitment, supporting stronger health and social protection systems to better protect children from climate‑related health risks,” said Nicole Ngeow, Executive Director of Prudence Foundation.

Sanjay Chakrabarty, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pru Life UK, said:
“Climate change is increasingly affecting the health and wellbeing of children and communities across the Philippines. Through the REACH programme, we are supporting efforts to strengthen systems that protect children from climate-related health risks such as extreme heat and air pollution. By working with UNICEF and government partners, we hope to help build stronger and more resilient health and social protection systems that can better safeguard children today, and in the future,” added Chakrabarty.

Kyungsun Kim, UNICEF Representative to the Philippines, highlighted the partnership’s significance in addressing the stakes for children:
“For children whose bodies are still growing, climate change can quickly become a health emergency. Protecting them requires climate‑adaptive, shock‑responsive systems, and strong partnerships. Through REACH, our work with the Prudence Foundation shows how government, civil society, young people, and the private sector can deliver solutions where they matter most. UNICEF mobilises private sector partners as advocates for child rights and responsible business, helping build a more resilient future for every child in the Philippines.”

Children are particularly vulnerable to environmental and climate-related health risks due to their unique needs and reliance on healthcare systems, clean air, and safe environments. Strengthening these systems will help ensure that communities are better prepared to respond to climate-related shocks and protect children’s health and wellbeing.

GEMs for Tomorrow: Nurturing Young Minds with Discovery Samal

Discovery Samal has long recognized its people as “Samal GEMs,” a name drawn from the values of being genuine, enthusiastic, and memorable. These GEMs are known for shaping the guest experience, extending their role beyond the resort through community initiatives and engagement programs. With GEMs for Tomorrow, Discovery Samal brings that same spirit into a focused effort that supports young learners and strengthens ties with surrounding communities.
Discovery Samal launched its 2026 GEMs for Tomorrow program on February 28, 2026, through an outreach in Barangay New Carmen, Tugbok District, where the team connected with local children by distributing school supplies, serving meals prepared by its chefs, and initiating a longer-term education-focused effort.
GEMs for Tomorrow forms part of Discovery Samal’s broader CSR direction, centered on building meaningful relationships within grassroots communities through education. The program focuses on underserved sectors, with children as primary beneficiaries, marking a more active step toward sustained engagement with the community.
Reaching the Grassroots
GEMs for Tomorrow is designed as an ongoing campaign that builds on previous outreach initiatives, maintaining a consistent focus on young beneficiaries. The selection of Barangay New Carmen in Tugbok District reflects an intent to work within communities where educational support can be reinforced through both material assistance and structured engagement. The program emphasizes not only resource distribution but the creation of opportunities for learning, making education the central thread across its activities.
The February 28 activity functioned as an initial introduction between the Discovery Samal team and the children. School supplies were distributed during the visit, accompanied by meals prepared by the resort’s chefs, creating an environment that allowed for informal interaction, focusing on establishing familiarity and trust.

Laying the Groundwork for Learning
Future visits under GEMs for Tomorrow will include structured learning sessions facilitated by Discovery Samal team members in coordination with local teachers. These sessions aim to support classroom instruction and contribute to the children’s development over time. The initial outreach serves as a preparatory step, setting the tone for a longer-term engagement that fosters collaboration with the school community.
Beyond the Initiative
GEMs for Tomorrow reflects Discovery Samal’s continuing effort to align its CSR initiatives with education and community-building. The program signals a move toward sustained involvement, in which impact is measured by ongoing presence and deeper community ties. Barangay New Carmen marks the starting point of this engagement, with plans to further develop the initiative in the months ahead.

4 Billion Hearts Strong: Globe GoGIVE Transforms Everyday Data into Nationwide Impact

Globe highlighted the expanding impact of GoGIVE at the latest installment of The Blueprint by Globe, the company’s quarterly media event. Embedded in the GlobeOne app and powered by thousands of Globe Prepaid users, GoGIVE transforms everyday mobile data usage into meaningful support for communities across the country.

GoGIVE donors have generated more than 4 billion hearts through their everyday mobile data usage on the GlobeOne app. This far exceeds the 840 million heart target set for each partner organization, reflecting the strong and sustained participation of Globe Prepaid customers. These hearts are then converted into meaningful connectivity support that powers advocacies such as animal welfare, environmental conservation, digital education, women empowerment, medical assistance, disaster relief, children's rights & development, inclusion, teacher development, and child protection across the country.

Today, GoGIVE is translating digital participation into tangible programs on the ground. For the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), connectivity support enables a more efficient online pet adoption process for shelter cats and dogs, access to virtual veterinary consultations, and stronger communication systems that enhance rescue operations during disasters.

The Philippine Eagle Foundation is using the support to strengthen education and community-based conservation efforts. Indigenous community partners can access online learning modules, participate in virtual trainings and coordination meetings, and report threats and illegal activities in real time to help protect the critically endangered Philippine eagle.

Through Project PEARLS, women in partner communities are gaining both practical skills and renewed confidence through online trainings in macramé, crochet, candle making, and personal development. At the same time, youth scholars are being equipped with career guidance, résumé-building tools, and leadership training that open doors to brighter futures.

For World Vision Philippines, connectivity support is strengthening child protection initiatives. This includes providing reliable internet access to partner public schools in Laurel, Batangas, complemented by online safety capacity-building and improved referral management systems to ensure children are protected and supported both online and offline.

Beyond long-term advocacy programs, Globe Prepaid customers have also supported emergency response efforts through GoGIVE during times of calamity. In partnership with Ayala FoundationRise Against Hunger PhilippinesPawssion Project, and the Philippine Eagle Foundation, GoGIVE has helped mobilize timely aid for affected communities.

To support GoGIVE:

1. Globe Prepaid customers can tap GoGIVE on the GlobeOne app,
2. Select the advocacy to start earning hearts,
3. Support the cause automatically every time mobile data is used!

By turning everyday data usage into collective action, Globe continues to show that connectivity can serve a larger purpose. GoGIVE demonstrates how digital engagement can create measurable impact, strengthen communities, and reinforce Globe’s role as a partner in nation-building.

Security Bank Foundation and JVR Foundation Expand Partnership with New School Building in Bukidnon

Makati City – More than 1,000 students from farming and indigenous communities in Pangantucan, Bukidnon will soon benefit from safer and more conducive learning spaces as Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI) and Jesus V. Del Rosario Foundation, Inc. (JVRF) expand their partnership to build a new 2-storey, 6-classroom school building in Pangantucan Community High School (PCHS).
The new facility helps address ongoing classroom shortages in the area and marks Security Bank Foundation’s second school building donation to PCHS. With this latest project, SBFI’s total classroom support for the school will reach 12 classrooms, reinforcing its long-term commitment to improving access to quality education in underserved communities.
The initiative builds on earlier collaboration between SBFI and JVRFI, including their joint donation of a 10-classroom school building to Tarlac National High School in 2025. Under the agreement for the Bukidnon project, JVRFI will fund one classroom, PCHS will support two classrooms, while SBFI will sponsor three classrooms through its Build a School, Build a Nation Program.
“Every child deserves a safe place to learn,” said Rafael Simpao, Jr., Chairman of Security Bank Foundation. “Through partnerships like this, we help communities close classroom gaps and provide students with an environment where they can learn, grow, and pursue better opportunities.”
The project was made possible through the efforts of Marissa Del Rosario-Blackett, a diplomat and humanitarian leader whose advocacy continues to support underserved communities across the country.
“We are grateful to continue our partnership with Security Bank Foundation in building new classrooms for Pangantucan High School, easing the shortage faced by its learners. Alongside this, JVR Foundation supports 15 scholars—mostly children of farmers—through the school’s horticulture and agriculture program,” said Kana Manglapus, Executive Director of JVRF.
Fr. Marlon Fabros, SJ, President of PCHS, welcomed the continued support. “This partnership strengthens our shared commitment to providing safe and dignified learning spaces for students from farming and indigenous communities. By building classrooms, we affirm that their dreams matter and that they deserve access to quality education.”
Through sustained partnerships with schools, communities, and like-minded organizations, Security Bank Foundation continues to help address classroom gaps nationwide and create better opportunities for Filipino learners.

Barangay Tejeros Tops Coca-Cola Philippines’ Barangay Tapon to Ipon Initiative

Barangay Tejeros in Makati City has proven how shared goals can turn everyday recycling into a lasting community practice. Recognised as the top-performing barangay in Coca-Cola Philippines’ Barangay Tapon to Ipon program, Barangay Tejeros demonstrated how shared action strengthened community bonds, improved waste segregation, and encouraged inclusive recycling.

The awarding ceremony, held at the Barangay Tejeros basketball court, culminated in a community fiesta featuring games and activities. After placing second the previous year, Barangay Tejeros rose to the top spot in the latest run of the program, reflecting sustained participation and commitment across the community.
The event brings the community together through interactive games, prizes, and shared merienda, celebrating the winning barangay’s achievement while reinforcing recycling as a fun, inclusive, and owned community practice.

Recognizing grassroots recycling efforts

Barangay Tapon to Ipon is a yearly, nationwide community recycling initiative powered by Coca-Cola Philippines in partnership with barangays, local leaders, and sari-sari store owners. The program engaged barangays, residents, and sari-sari stores across Metro Manila to collect and properly segregate PET bottles. It supports barangays in implementing Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, while helping build sustainable recycling habits at the grassroots level.

This year, 20 barangays around Metro Manila joined the friendly competition, collecting PET bottles while strengthening waste segregation and recycling practices. The awarding ceremony recognized the barangay’s collective effort, highlighting the role of residents, youth volunteers, and sari-sari stores in driving impact at the local level.

Barangay Tejeros collected nearly 40,000 PET bottles, equivalent to 698 kilograms, followed by Barangay 114 in Caloocan City in second place with a collection of about 21,000 (375 KG), and Barangay Moonwalk in Parañaque City for third place with 17,000 (310 KG).

Barangay Chairman Wilfredo S. Leonardo said visible results motivated their community to stay engaged and take pride in their efforts. “Noong nakaraang taon po, second place lang kami. Siyempre, gusto na naming maging number one. Kaya nang dumating ang pagkakataong ito, sinabi ko talaga sa mga kasamahan ko na gagawin namin ang lahat para makuha ang number one,” Leonardo said. “Pinasasalamatan po namin ang Coca-Cola sa patuloy na pagpili sa'ming barangay upang maging bahagi ng programang ito. Kaya inalagaan at sinuportahan namin nang husto ang aming pagsali dito.”

(“Last year, we were only in second place. Of course, we wanted to be number one. That’s why when this opportunity came around, I encouraged everyone to do our best so we can be number one.” Leonardo said. “We are grateful for Coca-Cola for consistently inviting us to join their program. We will continue supporting and joining this cause.”)
Along with their recognition, Barangay Tejeros was given 10 Coca-Cola stools made from recycled plastic, a Barangay Tapon to Ipon tent, Coca-Cola beverages for community events, and a Premium Linis Barangay Kit with cleaning and safety supplies. The barangay plans to integrate these into existing programs and continue encouraging participation from households and sari-sari stores.

Sustaining momentum beyond the campaign
For Coca-Cola Philippines, the nationwide recycling initiative forms part of a broader collection initiative, which includes over 6,000 collection points nationwide. The aim is to bring the collected bottles to PETValue Philippines, the country’s first food-grade bottle-to-bottle recycling facility located in General Trias, Cavite. PETValue Philippines processes used PET bottles and transforms them into recycled PET (rPET), which can be used to produce new food-grade beverage bottles.

“Programs like Barangay Tapon to Ipon foster the spirit of bayanihan, bringing communities together to achieve a shared goal,” said Tony Del Rosario, President of Coca-Cola Philippines and Vice President for Franchise Operations East of Coca‑Cola Far East Limited (CCFEL). “By making recycling fun and engaging, we help barangays build a culture of sustainability, where collective action at the grassroots creates ripple effects that can help strengthen recycling practices in communities across the country.”

Through this effort, Coca-Cola Philippines continues its commitment to collection and sustainability by working alongside barangays and local partners to turn local action into long-term recycling habits and responsible waste management.

Building a Digital Future: GCash Celebrates 7th Bangsamoro Foundation Day with a Push Towards Inclusive, Cashless Communities

In support of the commitment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to promote inclusive and people-centered progress, GCash, the country’s leading finance app, took part in the 7th Bangsamoro Foundation Day by working alongside the Bangsamoro Government to deliver initiatives focused on digital inclusion, financial literacy, and community empowerment.

Recognizing that limited access to banking infrastructure remains a barrier to economic participation in many Bangsamoro communities, GCash partnered with the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) and the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) to bring practical, entry-level digital financial tools closer to citizens. Through these collaborations, the initiative aimed to reach households, beneficiaries, and communities that are often underserved or excluded from the formal financial system.

To help more Bangsamoro residents join the formal financial system, GCash also provided easier access to the GCash Visa Card. This lets users use their digital wallet for everyday purchases, even in places that still require a card. With more ways to pay safely and conveniently, users can participate more actively in the local economy and the shift toward digital payments.

Complementing access, GCash emphasized financial capability and protection through guided demonstrations and financial literacy sessions. Participants were introduced to practical digital wallet use cases relevant to daily life, such as remittances, bill payments, and essential purchases. Residents also took part in financial literacy sessions that focused on cybersecurity, fraud awareness, and responsible digital behavior. These sessions aimed to ensure that adoption of digital finance is safe, informed, and sustainable, particularly for first-time users, PWDs, children, and senior citizens.

“Financial inclusion is more than about access to tools; it is about enabling people to participate fully in the economy and in society,” said CJ Alegre, Head of Sustainability at Mynt, parent company of GCash.

“By working closely with the Bangsamoro Government and engaging communities on the ground, we help ensure that digital finance becomes a practical, safe, and empowering resource for everyday life. When more people are connected to the formal financial system, entire regions benefit through greater economic activity, resilience, and opportunity,” he added.

The participation of GCash in the Bangsamoro Foundation Day reflects its broader strategy to deepen presence in BARMM by combining access, education, and partnerships. By engaging directly with communities and local government stakeholders, the initiative contributed to building trust in digital financial services and supporting the region’s transition toward a more inclusive and resilient digital economy.

Through sustained on-ground engagement and collaboration with regional partners, GCash continues to advance digital inclusion nationwide, helping ensure that communities in BARMM are not left behind as the country moves toward a cash-lite, digitally empowered future.

Sun Life Foundation Expand Basic Healthcare Access in Central Luzon with Turnover of Three New Health Stations

MANILA, PH – March 2026 – Thousands of residents in Central Luzon have gained access to basic healthcare services following the recent turnover of three new health stations by Sun Life Financial-Philippines Foundation, Inc. (Sun Life Foundation) to communities in the region.

Implemented in partnership with Health Futures Foundation, Inc. (HFI), the Sun Life Barangay Health Stations program expands healthcare access by constructing equipped and fully functional health stations in remote, low-income, and underserved communities. Here, residents can receive health services, including vaccinations, prenatal checkups, and health education.

The stations are complemented by the Community-Based Health and Wellness Program, which trains volunteer residents to serve as community health workers, enabling them to be active partners in managing community health. Having these stations nearby also reduces residents’ travel time and helps lower the cost of seeking healthcare.

Ceremonial turnovers were held to mark the completion of the stations in three barangays: Brgy. Masalasa in Victoria and Brgy. San Agustin in Gerona, Tarlac, and Brgy. Tandoc in Talugtug, Nueva Ecija. This brings the total number of operational stations to 16 across the provinces of Batangas, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija, with each station providing access to an estimated 5,000 residents.

“These health stations represent our commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare is within reach of all Filipinos, regardless of their location or economic circumstances,” said Joy Castillo, Sun Life Foundation President. “By bringing essential health services directly to these communities, we’re empowering them towards a healthier and brighter future.”

“This is a proof that all of us support the realization of the Universal Health Care (UHC),” said Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan, Health Futures Foundation, Inc. Chairman.

Sun Life Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Sun Life Philippines, the country’s first and longest-standing life insurance company. Its mission is to uplift the lives of Filipinos through sustainable initiatives that foster education, health, and environmental sustainability.

Generika Drugstore and the City Government of Valenzuela launched the very first partnership between a nationwide drugstore chain and a local government unit (LGU) providing an entire city access to essential medicines for free under the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)’s Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) Program.

Since its founding in 2012, HOPE has built a total of 167 classrooms, providing safe and conducive learning environments for over 53,000 Filipino children nationwide, and will continue to benefit future generations of students. This underscores HOPE’s long-term commitment to improving access to quality education for Filipino youth.

As a way to help the future of our country, HOPE recognizes the need for investments in the Philippine education sector, specifically public school classrooms, and giving attention to the “last mile schools” or those located in the remote areas in the country.

“I am deeply grateful to be rooted in the work of HOPE at a time when the world continues to ask so much of the human spirit. The past year was shaped by people who chose HOPE and translated that choice into action through partnerships, communities, and everyday decisions that moved our work forward,” said Nanette Medved-Po, HOPE Chairperson and Founder.

One of HOPE’s highlights of 2025 is the launch of Generation HOPE, a partnership with the country’s most beloved brands to help address the urgent need of building more public-school classrooms nationwide. Together with BDO, Carmen’s Best, Sunnies, Grab, SM Supermalls, The Aivee Clinic, and Penshoppe, different initiatives were kick-started to invite every Filipino to join the wave of building public-school classrooms.

Beyond The Rhythm: How Coca-Cola Reimagined the Dinagyang Experience through Flavor, Music, and Community

Nearly two weeks after the last drumbeats faded, the energy of Dinagyang 2026 is still being felt across Iloilo. For Coca-Cola Philippines, this year was more than a festival appearance; it was a celebration of deep-rooted connection with the province that dates back to the late 1940s.

By focusing on community and culture, Coca-Cola acted as a true local partner embedded in the streets, celebrating the Ilonggo spirit it has served for nearly 80 years.

A Legacy of ‘Lasang Lokal’
At the heart of Dinagyang is the food. The Coca-Cola Food Fest at Delgado Street and Megaworld Mandurriao turned street-side dining into a cultural highlight. By pairing ice-cold Coca-Cola™ with local favorites, the brand celebrated the ‘Lasang Lokal’ (local taste) that defines the city’s famous food scene.
This connection is long-standing. Since the company established its Iloilo operations in the 1940s, Coca-Cola has been a staple at family mealtimes and in the sari-sari stores found in every corner of the community.

A Stage for Local Pride
Since the Dinagyang Festival officially began in 1968, Coca-Cola has been an active participant in this 50-year-old tradition. This year, Coke Studio™ honored this shared history by spotlighting homegrown talent. Iloilo’s very own Mary Anjolie and Your X Boyfriends shared the stage with popular national acts like Ena Mori and Over October – a high-energy celebration of Filipino music,

Fun Live Experiences for the Next Generation
To match the festival’s high energy, Coca-Cola created interactive spaces for Gen Zs, the country’s new culture creators.

The Royal™ Booth at Megaworld Boulevard offered ‘Mwah-sarap’ fun moments where festivalgoers engaged in Snap N’ Slay photo challenges. Meanwhile, the Lift® Zone, dedicated to the new drink that fits your every mode, hosted fast-paced games for those with a competitive streak.

A Cleaner Way to Celebrate
True partnership means taking a fair share in keeping communities clean. Through the Coca-Cola Tapon to Ipon program – a nationwide collection initiative for PET bottles – Coca-Cola set up collection points across Iloilo City to ensure recyclable plastic (PET) bottles were recovered instead of becoming litter.

Festivalgoers were encouraged to exchange empty plastic bottles for Coca-Cola products. The goal is to divert these collected PET bottles to PETValue Philippines*, the country’s first food-grade bottle-to-bottle recycling facility. PETValue then turns post-consumer PET bottles into new food-grade recycled PET (rPET) packaging. The initiative proves that Filipinos can – and should – enjoy grand traditions while actively participating in keeping their communities clean.

Rooted Locally
“Dinagyang is all about people coming together, and that’s what makes it special,” said Frenissa Lagman, Frontline Sr. Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Philippines. “Our history with Iloilo goes back to the late 1940s. Being part of the local celebrations for over 50 years means adding real value to the experience, whether through music, food, or supporting the community’s goals of keeping festivals clean.”

As Iloilo returns to its daily routine, the presence of Coca-Cola at Dinagyang 2026 stands as a reminder that brands can be more than just a name on a sign – it can be a local partner and a meaningful part of the city’s story.

Ministry of Social Services and Development-BARMM Partners with GCash to Expand Cashless Disbursement Under FAST Project, Roll Out Bangsamoro Cards

The Ministry of Social Services and Development of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MSSD-BARMM) has partnered with GCash, the Philippines’ leading finance super app and largest cashless ecosystem, to expand its cashless disbursement system under the Financial Assistance System Transformation (FAST) Project, an initiative designed to make the distribution of social assistance faster, more efficient, and more transparent for beneficiaries across the region.

While MSSD-BARMM has already begun transitioning to digital payouts, the partnership with GCash expands the reach of the FAST Project, ensuring that financial assistance is more accessible and convenient for beneficiaries, including those in remote and underserved communities.

“This partnership strengthens our FAST Project by expanding our cashless distribution channels and ensuring timely assistance for our beneficiaries,” said Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie, minister of the Ministry of Social Services and Development. “Through this collaboration, we aim to make social support programs more inclusive, reliable, and efficient, reaching every Bangsamoro family and community who need it most.”

The GCash engagement with the FAST Project also aligns with the company’s strategic focus on promoting financial inclusion among underserved communities, particularly within the Islamic population and the BARMM region. By prioritizing these areas, GCash seeks to support equitable access to financial services while empowering local communities with tools for everyday transactions and long-term financial health.

Under the partnership, beneficiaries will receive Bangsamoro Cards powered by GCash, which serve as both identification and a cashless payment tool. The cards allow users to withdraw funds, make purchases, and access essential financial services even without a smartphone, helping ensure that no one is left behind in the region’s digital financial ecosystem. This expansion will directly benefit key MSSD-BARMM programs under the FAST Project, including educational assistance through Angat Bangsamoro: Kabataan Tungo sa Karunungan (ABaKa), livelihood support through Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan (BSK), and emergency relief through the Bangsamoro Critical Assistance to Indigents in Response to Emergency Situations (BCARES).

“For GCash, BARMM and Islamic communities are among our priority sectors,” said Cleo Celeste Santos, Head for Public Sector at GCash. “Digital finance penetration in these areas has historically lagged, which is why we are doubling down on our efforts. By working closely with MSSD-BARMM, we are providing accessible and culturally responsive solutions that help ensure the success of the FAST Project and other government programs.”

By expanding the FAST Project through GCash’s digital Funds Disbursement Service (FDS), MSSD-BARMM reinforces its commitment to modern governance, accountability, and inclusive development. Beneficiaries can now access assistance through a more convenient, secure, and widely available platform, ensuring that social aid reaches those who need it most. Through this partnership, GCash aims to strengthen financial access in BARMM, delivering solutions tailored to the unique needs of Muslim communities and supporting sustainable local growth.

GCash continues to collaborate with national agencies, local governments, and ministries to advance digital transformation, helping ensure that social aid, livelihood support, and emergency assistance are delivered efficiently to Filipinos, particularly in priority and underserved sectors.
