L’ART DU LAVAGEL’ART DU LAVAGE — Washing Transformed into an Art Form

L’ART DU LAVAGE — The Art of Washing
Haier Launches Its New Washing Machine Line in an Evening of Art and Innovation
Haier Philippines brought together culture, fashion, music, and technology in a grand event titled “L’ART DU LAVAGE — The Art of Washing”, where guests experienced firsthand the artistry and innovation behind Haier’s newest washing machine line.

The program began with a touch of elegance as guests arrived to the sound of live violin music, setting a refined mood during registration. A cultural dance performance followed, showcasing movement and color that celebrated artistry—an apt introduction to an evening that promised both style and innovation. Warm greetings from Haier executives, together with a video message from company representatives abroad, welcomed the audience and provided context on the inspiration behind the launch.

The highlight of the night was the dramatic unveiling of Haier’s new washing machine models. Presented through a fusion of models, dancers, and stage effects, the moment captured both the beauty of design and the sophistication of technology. The Haier HW140-BD14387GNU1, a 14.0 kg front-load washing machine, drew attention with its Direct Drive motor, colorful touchscreen panel, Wi-Fi capability, and advanced functions such as AI wash, smart dosing, ultra fresh air, and Haier’s Essence Wash 2.0. With its tempered glass design, it balances modern aesthetics with everyday practicality. Alongside it, Haier introduced the HW120-BPD14367S8U1, a 12.0 kg model that carries a BLDC motor, colorful touchscreen, Wi-Fi, AI wash, smart dosing, and the same Essence Wash 2.0 system. Slightly smaller in capacity yet equally feature-rich, it provides households with a flexible option depending on their lifestyle needs. Completing the lineup was the Haier HS120-BR1BU, a 12.0 kg washing machine equipped with Double Drive technology for enhanced cleaning performance and Fresh Air functionthat helps keep clothes hygienic and fresh even after the wash. With its modern design and efficient features, this unit added another dimension to the range, offering guests a clear look at Haier’s versatility in fabric care solutions.

Adding context to the launch, GFK speaker Timothy Lazaro shared insights on consumer trends in the home appliance market, emphasizing how technology and convenience continue to shape the way households choose their appliances. A detailed product presentation followed, demonstrating how the new washing machines are built to handle diverse laundry needs with ease and efficiency.
The evening also gave space for personal storytelling. Lifestyle content creator Jenela in Japan shared her testimonial about her Haier washing machine experience, noting how the product has simplified her laundry routine. A short Q&A session allowed guests to connect her experience with their own household needs, making the presentation more relatable.

Beyond product discussions, guests enjoyed an interactive product experience area where they could explore the washing machines up close, observe live demonstrations, and see the technology in action. This hands-on element allowed the audience to appreciate not just the design but also the performance of the appliances.
The celebration continued with dinner accompanied by live vocal performances, further setting the atmosphere for an evening that balanced entertainment with product discovery. One of the most creative segments of the program was the fashion show, which highlighted three sequences—office wear, silk, and gowns. Each sequence was paired with live singing performances and ended with a symbolic gesture: the last model placing clothes into a Haier washing machine. This theatrical presentation reinforced the theme of fabric care and illustrated how the right washing machine preserves the beauty and integrity of garments.
As the night progressed, guests were treated to another round of live performances, including a violin interlude and a dance showcase. Raffle draws brought excitement and energy, with winners taking home prizes that added to the celebratory atmosphere. Closing remarks and a final toast wrapped up the evening, leaving attendees with a lasting impression of how Haier continues to merge technology and lifestyle in meaningful ways.

By the end of L’ART DU LAVAGE, the message was clear: washing clothes is not only a daily necessity but can also be reimagined as an art form when paired with thoughtful design and advanced technology. Through this launch, Haier reminded its guests that caring for fabrics is not just about cleanliness—it is about preserving the beauty and comfort of everyday living.

Smart holds ‘Creativity Camp’ at Silliman University, Reinforcing Sustainability

PLDT’s wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), together with Silliman University (SU), continues to promote sustainability among the youth through Smart Creativity Camp.

Smart teamed up with SU’s Fine Arts Department to hold a three-day Creativity Camp at the Romeo Ariniego Art Gallery to inspire the youth to become champions for sustainability and environmental awareness while fostering their creativity.

“This campaign is inspired by the youth’s efforts to contribute to a more environmentally friendly world, such as carrying their metal flasks to school rather than always consuming beverages in plastic bottles. We took the camp to various schools nationwide to encourage more youth to practice sustainability while celebrating their passion for the arts and promoting student wellness,” said Antonette Orpilla, Senior Manager, Smart Go-To-Market and Subscriber Management.

SMART CREATIVITY CAMP

The camp was held in time for the university’s Genesis Week and Hibalag Festival 2023, adding more meaning to SU’s school year opening activities and Founders’ Day celebrations.

"The project was able to facilitate a shared space for students from different colleges and departments where they may forge connections through art-making. The fellow-feeling and sense of community that this encourages are essential to the pursuit of sustainability," said W. Don Flores, Fine Arts Department chair at SU.

SU students expressed their commitment to sustainability through the designs they created on their metal beverage containers. Manta Cristina Macabali, an instructor at the Fine Arts Department, also delivered a talk about art patterns and designs to guide students in enhancing their creations.

The students with the best tumbler designs and their respective organizations received special prizes from Smart.

"The change that sustainability requires is only possible if we understand that the call toward it is not only directed to us as individual makers but more significantly as persons who are part of a larger whole. Through community, we share anxieties and hopes. By making art side-by-side, as Smart Creativity Camp has encouraged, we are able to cultivate this sense of a shared longing for a better, more sustainable world," added Flores.

The Smart Creativity Camp is part of the PLDT group’s broad range of activities that empower and build bridges of collaboration across sectors and communities towards a sustainable future.

Smart ‘Creativity Camp’ Inspires Artistry, Love for Sustainability among Mindanao Students

SMART CREATIVITY CAMP

Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) helped welcome students to the school opening activities at the University of Mindanao (UM) and the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU), with its Smart Creativity Camp. The fun-filled events, run by Smart as part of a broad program to engage young people nationwide, enables students to bring out the artist in them as they learn more about sustainability.

University President Fr. Guillrey Anthony "Ernald" Andal, SJ, shared, “ADZU has been active in promoting sustainability, and one of our efforts is encouraging students to bring reusable water containers. We are happy that Smart hosted this Creativity Camp, enabling aspiring artists to personalize their water containers, showcase their creativity and learn the value of our sustainability programs at the same time.”

Bringing their own metal beverage containers, students trooped to the colorful booths to join the camp. Using their own tumblers as canvas and art materials provided by Smart, the students personalized their beverage containers with designs that represent their passions and their vision of a sustainable future.

“Smart empowers the youth to pursue their passions. Our creativity camp allows them to express their emotions through visual arts. Through their creations, they tell us about their passion for sustainable practices,” said Melvin Consunji Nubla, FVP and Head of Smart Go-To-Market and Subscriber Management.

SMART CREATIVITY CAMP

“Art is very important and joining this camp has enhanced my creativity. It also made me realize that we can create art using non-hazardous materials which are safe for the environment,” said 18-year-old UM Fine Arts student, Marylove Eclarinal.

To motivate students, especially those who feel intimidated handling a paintbrush, Smart invited Davao-based multi-disciplinary artist, Goldie Siglos, to hold a workshop on basic design techniques for the UM students. In Zamboanga, resident artist Bel Garcia conducted an art class for the ADZU students. With their help, the students crafted unique artworks using water-based paint and custom stickers from Smart.

Smart will continue to roll out its Creativity Camp to more schools, to encourage more students to unleash their passion for the arts and at the same time, raise awareness on sustainability. The Smart Creativity Camp is part of the PLDT group’s broad range of activities that empowers and builds bridges of collaboration across sectors and communities towards a sustainable future.

Canva Philippines Launches #SayItSaCanva Campaign to Help You Express Your Messages of Love this Valentine’s Season

#SayItSaCanva

Manila, Philippines – We Filipinos have always loved love, and we aren’t afraid to show it. Sadly, the pandemic has limited even the way we express love, trading face-to-face efforts and those classic, swoon-worthy grand gestures into “next times”, promises, and video calls, even when we know we can’t fit our big hearts into those tiny chat bubbles. But this season, Canva Philippines says keep expressing yourself.

Canva is encouraging Filipinos to continuously communicate their feelings by turning them into visual stories through their newly launched #SayItSaCanva campaign.

This month, Canva Philippines is releasing new Valentine’s Day themed templates and elements to help you express your love in different formats whether it's through videos, presentations, social media posts, and more.

“While the pandemic has affected our physical bonds, this doesn’t mean that it should also restrict us from sharing our love and appreciation for our loved ones. Canva’s mission is to empower the world to design, and we found this opportunity for Filipinos to express themselves in a creative and unique way through our engaging tools and resources; we want people to share their stories and ‘Say It Sa Canva’,” said Yani Hornilla-Donato, Canva Philippines’ Country Manager.

To make it easier for users, Canva has launched a Content Hub that holds all of the templates and elements you’ll need to convey your kilig, lambing or pasasalamat for anyone in any form, across any platform.

Through #SayItSaCanva, you can make use of the thousands of available resources from the Canva Content Hub — from photos and illustrations to music — to make your message stand out.

“We want to enable Filipinos to share what’s in their heart, not just this February but all year-round with a diverse content library for all the milestones you want to commemorate and the feelings you want to celebrate,” Donato said.

Whether your love language is words of affirmation, acts of service, or gift-giving, it's always going to be creative and one-of-a-kind when you choose to #SayItSaCanva. Spark connections with your significant other, family, or friends in a fun, creative, and thoughtful way, any day of the year.

Find inspiration from Canva Philippines’ Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram accounts and spread the message of love this love month.

Almost everyone creates visual content in today’s world, and we have re-imagined video creation and editing to meet this reality.”

“Filipinos are highly engaged online and one of the formats that they respond to the most is videos. Cinematic transitions enable a perfect flow between segments, and editing is optimized for mobile apps and browsers, removing the need for powerful hardware.

  • Multiple Audio Tracks: the video timeline now supports multiple audio tracks, whether uploaded to Canva or dragged from the media library, to enhance videos with music, sound effects, and narration. Canva Pro subscribers can access 27,000 royalty-free tracks through a partnership with Epidemic Sound, with thousands of new sound effects set to be available in November.

  • Screen and Camera Recording: users can now record footage from a camera, screen, or Chrome tab, perfect for video messages and tutorials.
